The summer is fast approaching, and that means that we’re almost upon the party season. The weather is warm. The evenings are long. And we’ve finally emerged from a long, cold winter. Just about everybody is desperate to let down their hair and get boogieing.
We all know how to throw a party. But do we know how to throw the ultimate summer party? Here are the seven steps to success.
Greet Your Guests At The Door
Everybody who turns up to your party wants to feel welcome. Speak to each person on the door and thank them for coming. Then offer them a drink as soon as they come in. You want them to feel at ease as soon as possible. And you want your guests to start talking to one another.
Find A Willing Helper
Organizing a party by yourself is tough work. There are so many things to do, from preparing drinks to making sure everyone is comfortable. But you don’t have to do it all by yourself. Get one of your girlfriends to walk around offering people aperitifs and hors d’oeuvres.
Snazz Up The Guest List
At the end of the day, it’s the guests that make the party. And nothing is worse than a party full of miserable and uninteresting people. Spice things up a bit. Invite some people who are either interesting or a bit whacky. Get them to be the life and the soul of the party. Don’t leave it to chance.
Do Food Professionally
Because the weather is so nice, most summer parties are held during the day. That’s great news because it means you can be more inventive with the food. For instance, you don’t just have to stick to a regular, boring BBQ. You could hire a morning tea catering company to provide a traditional catering menu instead. Now that would be different!
Send Out Invites Over The Internet
The modern world isn’t always that easy to navigate. But there’s no doubt that it makes some things a lot easier. One of those things is organizing your invitations. You don’t have to spend all day writing and posting them anymore. You can simply choose one of a whole bunch of online apps that do the legwork for you. Apps like evite.com are one example, but there are many.
Do Some Fun Activities - With Prizes
Just because it’s a party for adults, doesn’t mean that you can’t play any games. After all, that’s what made kid’s parties so much fun in the past.
Of course, you won’t be playing pass the parcel. But games can really do a lot to generate excitement and make the party an event. There are all sorts of games to choose from, from Pictionary to mud wrestling.
Know Your Best Talkers
Conversation can sometimes get a little dull on some tables. But as the party organizer, you know where these problem areas may emerge. Get clever with where you seat people. Know who your best talkers are and spread them out among all the tables.
