Diva Cup Review

Warning: Gentlemen readers this post is about "lady stuff" so proceed with caution if period talk isn't your thing!

Dear readers, we are about to change your life, the product we're going to introduce you to today is literally the best product I've ever received for review. I hope you're okay with period talk because we're about to get really real here. You're going to learn more about us than you may want to know but what you will learn could honestly change the way you view your period and ultimately, your life.

Once a month most of us are blessed or cursed depending on how you look at it, with a visitor that we would usually rather not see. She interrupts our life with her cramps, bloating, and constant trips to the bathroom. She is an unwanted pest that we really should be thankful to get because it means our bodies are working the way they are supposed to and as gross as she is, she's healthy. I'm talking about your period. We almost all get one, or have had one at one point in our lives and I don't know about you but I used to dread that week of my life.

My period used to be awful, I'm talking cramps that would make me sick and fatigue that could take out anyone.

Seriously!!!

Then after I was diagnosed with a blood clot disorder I was put on blood thinners for life. Blood thinners make it really hard to stop bleeding and cause you to bleed more than normal when you cut yourself. Im sure you can put two and two together here. After the blood thinner I was having to get up two to three times a night to refresh both tampons and pads because I had to double up and I was in the bathroom every hour or so during the day. Thats really hard in general but when you're a teacher its virtually impossible. The worst part was, sometimes even using the bathroom that much still wasn't enough. I prayed for some relief and I finally found it.

I found my relief in the Diva Cup. This little miracle is literally a cup that is inserted like a tampon but can be worn for up to 12 hours and doesn't leak like tampons and pads do. I have a serious problem passing clots on my period and tampons and pads can't hold that much liquid after a "surge" like passing a clot. Now, I don't have to worry because the Diva Cup holds up to 1 oz of liquid and your normal period only produces 1 to 2oz the entire length of your cycle. I know Diva Cup is safe to use because its made of medical grade silicone and I clean it after every use so I don't have to worry about TSS either.

The best thing about Diva Cup is the fact that my cramps have practically stopped, I don't know if its because of the cup or what but seriously I swear, my cramps are almost nonexistent. I still get a little dull achy feeling but nothing like I was...
This was seriously me before Diva Cup.

To use the Diva Cup, you fold the cup and insert it just like a tampon, it takes some practice but its not hard, then when you use the bathroom you can empty the cup, wash the cup, and reinsert the cup. If you are in a public restroom and don't feel comfortable cleaning your cup in public, no worries. Because you can wear the cup up to 12 hours at a time, just wait until you get home and clean your cup in private. I suggest boiling your cup from time to time also, it helps it keep the clear color.

Now I know what you're thinking, it sounds a bit gross to have to handle a cup after use. It isn't any worse than changing a pad or a tampon, I promise. You can dump your cup and not even see anything. Plus, you don't bleed as much as you think you do so the amount of blood in the cup is almost always minimal. You'll be shocked at how easy and not gross the Diva Cup is. Please trust me and try it, your life will be changed forever!

Two of our other writers for Mommys Block Party also got to review Diva Cup. You'll see they also found Diva Cup to be a life changer too!

Emily: Ok, I admit I was sort of terrified to try the Diva Cup. After reading lots of information on the company's website, I felt comfortable enough to at least try it. The verdict: I love it! It took a few tries to get everything right, and I think it will still take a couple more tries to feel like a pro, but I am well on my way to being a Diva Cup convert. The biggest appeal to me was eliminating all the monthly waste that traditional tampons and pads create. Having a little guy in disposable diapers, I already feel guilty about those overflowing trash bins, so this is a good way for me to feel like I am offsetting that a little. I also love that I am not subjecting myself to the chemicals and materials in feminine care products since Diva Cup is an natural un-pigmented silicone. Give it a try, you might be surprised...I was!

Shaun Marie: I used The Diva Cup for the first time this past weekend. As a mommy of multiple crazy boys, I am always looking for anything that can save me time, or money. This product does both! I absolutely love the ease of use. And the fact that it's good to go for up to 12 hours means I was able to go about my Saturday full of baseball and football fields without stopping at the lovely port-a-johns to make sure I wasn't a "mess".  Let's not forget that at a cost of around $39.99, it essentially pays for itself after 2-3 cycles.

I hope you all found these reviews helpful and I REALLY hope you give the Diva Cup a try. You won't regret it! If you don't believe us, check out youtube because there are hundreds of reviews saying the same thing and videos explaining even more about Diva Cup.
