The Dog Who Saved Summer DVD #Giveaway

Starring Dean Cain, Gary Valentine, Elisa Donovan and Patrick Muldoon
with Mario Lopez returning as “Zeus” the Dog in the
Heartwarming Family Franchise

Available on DVD and On Demand June 2, 2015

Beverly Hills, CA – April 13, 2015 – A paws-itively delightful treat for the whole family, The Dog Who Saved Summer arrives on DVD and On Demand June 2 and is available in Digital HD May 22 from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Mario Lopez (“Extra” host, “Saved by the Bell”), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), Gary Valentine (“The King of Queens,” Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 and 2, Jack & Jill), Elisa Donovan (Clueless, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”), Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers) and Joey “Coco” Diaz (The Longest Yard) reprise their roles in the sixth installment of the popular franchise and are joined once again by director Sean Robert Olson and screenwriters Michael Ciminera and Richard Gnolfo. The hilarious fun-in-the-sun comedy also stars Martin Kove (“Cagney & Lacey,” The Karate Kid), Francesca Capaldi (“Dog with a Blog”), Cole Jensen (“Crash & Bernstein”) and the voice of William Zabka (The Karate Kid).

When former police K-9 Zeus (voiced by Lopez) accidentally destroys an important party, the Bannister family decides it’s time to send him to obedience school. Classes start off on the wrong paw when the no-nonsense instructor Vernon (Kove) and his Marine K-9 assistant Apollo (voiced by Zabka) fail Zeus on every lesson. Fearing the pound may be his next stop, Zeus and the Bannister children (Capaldi and Jensen) enlist help from a janitor who teaches them his unique training methods that could help Zeus win “Top Dog” at the school’s showcase. Meanwhile, a familiar trio of bumbling burglars (Cain, Muldoon and Diaz) is planning a daring diamond heist. Zeus must outsmart the thieves, as well as his hard-nosed instructor, in order to win the big tournament and foil the jewelry robbery before it’s too late.

Our Thoughts...

We were so excited to sit down as a family and watch The Dog Who Saved Summer for our movie night. I wish that I had thought to bring this along with us on our recent beach vacation, because it would have been a great movie for all four generations of our family to watch and enjoy together.
B and I really love talking dog movies, and B is especially drawn to superhero stories.

Zeus is such a cute dog, and like many little pups, finds himself in spots of mischief every now and again. Zeus is enrolled into obedience school, so he can try to straighten up, but he soon finds himself in a role reversal! A few silly thugs are planning an elaborate robbery, and it's up to Zeus (voiced by Mario Lopez) to put a stop to it all! I got a big kick out of hearing Mario Lopez's voice through out the movie (he'll always be A. C. Slater to me), and the cast was really perfect for this film. It was great to see Elisa Donovan, and Dean Cain (Dean Cain as a silly crook!).

The movie was lighthearted and fun for the whole family. We enjoyed all of the humorous situations- for kids, and adults! We give this movie two thumbs up, and highly recommend adding it to your movie list this summer!

  10. The trailer is delightful. I especially liked all the mishaps when things and people fell in the pool. Getting wet unexpectedly is part of the fun of warm weather and summer. Zeus needs training and I can just see the dog thinking and feeling what's in it for me.
