An Aspirational Doll for Young Grads- Prettie Girls! Dolls #Review and #Giveaway

It's that time of the year (at least in my neck of the woods), where school is almost out and many children are looking forward to summer vacation and graduation or moving forward parties. As a parent, sometimes the thought of finding a great gift can be pretty overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be that way because there are many great gifts available, including one of our new favorites

One World Doll Project's Prettie Girls! Dolls.

You may have noticed the non-traditional spelling, and it's not an error. In this case, PRETTIE is an acronym for Positive, Respectful, Enthusiastic, Talented, Truthful, Inspiring, and Excellent. Four dolls currently make up the Prettie Girls! collection, each with their own style and personality. Representing different cultural backgrounds, each girl embodies positive and aspirational characteristics that every little girl can embrace.

For young graduates, a Prettie Girls! Doll can be more than just another toy in their collection. Providing positive role models who offer girls a glimpse of their biggest and brightest dreams by doing well in school, helping in their communities, and taking a positive role in shaping their future, these dolls serve as a reminder of "Girl Power" as well as the potential for greatness each young person has.

The current collection includes:

Dahlia - Described as a natural born comedian with a brilliant mind and quick wit.

Kimani- Described as artistic, creative, and someone who loves the performing arts.

Valencia- Described as bold and daring with a passion for a healthy lifestyle.

Lena- Described as fun, fresh, confident, and smart.

For our review, we received the Kimani and Dahlia Prettie Girls! Dolls. Both Drew and Reese had a difficult time waiting to play with them asking, I'd say about every 2 minutes, if it was time yet. Drew was instantly drawn to the Dahlia doll which means Reese got Kimani (although they each play with both dolls anyway). I thought the decision was pretty amusing, because each girl got the doll that matched the personality of her sister (Drew is more like Kimani and Reese is a bit more like Dahlia).

We took the time to learn about each of the girls and Drew took a lot of what we found out and brought it into the scenes she enacted for each of the dolls. She was really interested in the idea of creating doll sized board games for Dahlia to play and finding really small beads so that Kimani could make jewelry.

I am really impressed with these dolls. The girls adore them, and I like that they each come with "background information" provided so that there is a little more in depth play going on.
