My husband and I used to go on dates all the time. Before we became parents, it was much easier for us to head out for the evening, enjoying a nice dinner, and maybe even seeing a movie. Once there was a third person in our lives, money was immediately tighter, and planning for a date night, just never really seemed to happen, try as we might. Eventually, we realized that we didn't need to leave home to have a date. We could set aside some time after our little one was asleep, and spend some quality time together.
Date-in-a-Crate makes it easier than ever to enjoy a date night with your spouse or significant other, without having to endure the stress that sometimes comes along with date planning. Date-in-a-Crate is a monthly subscription box for couples, offering tools to help couples enjoy an easy date night. Date-in-a-Crate arrives right at your doorstep, and includes items and suggestions to help you 'plan' and enjoy a fun date night.
I was excited for hubby and I to receive our very first Date-in-a-Crate.
As I opened up our Date-in-a-Crate, I found the Date-in-a-Crate Newsletter right on top, which included the Date Idea of the Month, and a Recipe for Resolution. Hubby and I enjoyed reading the newsletter together.
We also received a thank you card, and a fun sticker.
The items packaged inside of our crate were wrapped in tissue paper, and we were itching to open it up and see what was inside.
I love that the crate included information about the spotlight items in our crate, as well as a note from the owner. This month's note talked about Sports vs. Relationships, which isn't really an issue for hubby and me, seeing as how we don't watch sports. We definitely appreciated the points made, though. We see far too many relationships suffer because one member of a 'couple' is super into sports, and it sort of takes over their lives, and spills over into date time, leaving the other person in the relationship feeling frustrated, and often left out. Date-in-a-Crate has some wonderful relationship tips, to help couples avoid such issues.
Onto the un-boxing... We opened our crate to find some wonderful goodies!
The January Date-in-a-Crate included:
Recipe for Resolution
Olive Oil
Engraved Wooden Spoon
Tea Towel
2 Gourmet Snacks
1 Redbox Code
We were intrigued by the Olive Oil, and couldn't wait to get into the kitchen with the beautifully engraved wooden soon, which says, 'Love in every spoonful' on it. We were excited to read through the Recipe for Resolution sheet, which included date night suggestions, such as:
Go out to dinner and try a new restaurant that you've both been wanting to try.
Take a weekend off and go on a small road trip together.
Make a special gourmet dinner together, using a new recipe you both found.
Have a lazy night in with pizza, wine and movies. Take turns picking the movies.
Take a walk around the neighborhood and just talk to each other.
Send each other a small gift at work, and be creative with it.
Sit down, open your Date-in-a-Crate, and enjoy your romantic adventure.
We talked through the date night ideas, and decided to go with the lazy night in date, simply because it was the easiest, and wouldn't require us having to leave the house (which would mean organizing a babysitter). We enjoyed a pizza dinner as a family, and then after little man was asleep, we opened a bottle of wine, and sat down with our gourmet snacks and our movie.
Redbox Code and Cinnamon Peanut Brittle
We used our Redbox code to rent Thor, simply because it's a movie we both like, and I had been wanting to see it again. Our gourmet snacks were pretty good- Cinnamon Roll Peanut Brittle was a nice treat for hubby. I like peanut brittle, but am not a fan of cinnamon. I did try a piece for good measure, though.
Imperial Nuts Antioxidant Blend
The fruit and nut blend was my yummy snack! I love that the snacks included were pretty much guilt-free. I'm not overly crazy about banana chips, but the ones included in this mix were pretty good. I really loved the almonds, cashews, cranberries and blueberries, though! Yummy!
It was nice for us to be able to just sit and relax. I left my laptop alone, and didn't pick it up to check e-mails or work on anything during our 'date,' and hubby stayed off of his phone. We didn't talk a whole lot, since we were watching a movie, but we did make plans to have an afternoon/evening out sometime soon. We love taking day trips, and talking while we're on the road together.
Sagestruck Herbary Pili-Pili in Olive Oil
We have used some of the special items in our Date-in-a-Crate during the regular week, at home. I love the wooden spoon, and have been enjoying using it while cooking for my family during the week. The Pili-Pili in olive oil is light and tasty, and I enjoyed using it in a pasta dish I made recently for the family- just a simple angel hair pasta with fresh veggies, tossed in olive oil, and topped with a sprinkle of Parmesan Cheese. It's infused with rosemary, oregano, and chili pepper- so tasty.
The Tea Towel is bright and colorful, and serves as a nice reminder of our loving relationship. The chevron pattern reminds me that we have our ups and downs, but all of our experiences paint a picture of our beautiful life together, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Overall, we really like the idea of Date-in-a-Crate. The date ideas are fun, inexpensive (or free), and easy to pull off. The items that come with the Date-in-a-Crate change monthly, so you never know what special items you'll find waiting for you. Most of all, we love that Date-in-a-Crate simply encourages couples to spend time together, and talk. When it gets to the point in a relationship where you feel like you're just two people who live in the same house, and say 'hi' and 'bye,' you know it's time to plan a date night! Date-in-a-Crate doesn't promise that their box will improve your relationship, but they certainly give you the tools to help you get your relationship back on track.

ReplyDeleteThe fact that it offers advice along with the products is really unique and cool.
ReplyDeleteI like that they have different snacks and things to try. Date night after being married for 25 years sounds great!
ReplyDeleteIt just looks so fun! And inspiring! It makes me want to put a date together right now. Products and tastes I've not had before, really cool!
ReplyDeleteI like that it'll help encourage us to not always do the exact same thing every date night and helps take away the pressure of coming up with something.
ReplyDeleteI had a pretty loose vision and was willing to let the experts do their work and my event planning team handled that beautifully - I would bet on her being able to perfectly execute a more detailed-oriented vision as well.
