Treasury of Bible Stories #Review + #Giveaway

When I was a child, I loved hearing Bible stories. I grew up in a Christian family, both my parents and all of my grandparents deeply devoted to being disciples of Jesus. My father is a church musician (professionally), my mother has also worked in church administration, and my grandmother was our church librarian (when I was little), and truly has a heart for missionaries and their work. My sister and I have been deeply involved in the church our entire lives, I married a Christian man who is also deeply devoted to serving the Lord through music, and I continue to volunteer my time and use my spiritual gifts in the church as an adult. It's no surprise to me that my own little boy loves Jesus so much, and loves to hear the stories that have shaped the Christian faith.

We started reading Bible stories to B, and singing Bible songs when we was just a baby. Jesus Loves Me is the first song he ever learned (it was mine, as well). Now at almost 4 years old, B gets doses of Bible stories on Sundays during worship and Sunday School, on Wednesdays in our Weekday Church School program, and at preschool. I love sharing Bible stories with my son, but have found it to be slightly tricky to share them in a way that he can understand, and in a way that makes it enjoyable for him.

We were recently offered the opportunity to review a fantastic book for families, Magnificent Tales- Treasury of Bible Stories. Featuring lyrical stories that will make you laugh, this colorful collection is perfect for reading out loud. Magnificent Tales are rhyming Bible stories with clever art and clear lessons the whole family will enjoy. The stories and illustrations are so engaging that you won’t grow tired of reading a Magnificent Tale night after night! From “The Salty Tale of Noah’s Ark” to “The Lasting Story of the Last Supper,” the rhyming tales in this book remind us that God loves His people—in the Bible and today!

About the author:
Kelly Pulley has illustrated dozens of books in The Beginner’s Bible series and has authored and illustrated several other children’s books, including Ten Unusual Features of Lulu McDunn and The Cycling Wangdoos. He enjoys spending time with his four grown children and his beautiful wife, Vickie, in the Nashville area.

I couldn't wait to sit down and look through the beautiful Treasury of the Bible Stories book that we were sent to review. It's a lovely hardcover book, with a wonderful illustration on the front cover. I couldn't wait to look through the book, and when I opened it up, I quickly found many of my favorite Bible stories.

Beautiful front cover of Treasury of Bible Stories...

Story of Moses

Story of Queen Esther

Story of Jonah

B and I have been reading these wonderful Bible stories before bed each night. We are trying to go through the book and follow the stories that we are learning about at church. So far, we have read the Creation Story, the story of Noah, and we just started reading the story of Joseph, which we're breaking into two parts, because it's a bit long.

B has really been enjoying the stories. He is engaged in the story, noticing that the lines in the story rhyme, and are fun to follow. He is also really enjoying the pictures. He's picking up on a lot more when we read these stories, than he was when we tried reading them from some of our other Bible story books. B is asking questions about the characters in the story, and is always quick to chime in with, 'God loved them, and he loves us!'

It makes me feel really good to know that my little man knows that he is loved by God, and that God is always there to protect him. I can't wait to continue reading these Bible stories with my son this year. Of course, we're still reading other stories, but he's been asking to read the Bible stories, so I am definitely glad to hear him ask if he can learn more about God!

This book would make a beautiful gift for a special child, would be a fantastic resource for teachers, and should be a household staple- a go to book for families.
