Heading back to school can be be exciting, and a time of anxiety. For our family, I know that I am feeling the anxiety that any parent would feel when their child goes off to school for the very first time. For B, this is an exciting, and somewhat scary step. We've already been dealing with separation anxiety on and off through the summer, so to ease him through the transition of going to school three days a week, we've been doing things to get him ready, like reading special books, getting on a school schedule, and really talking about how fun and exciting preschool will be for him.

My husband and I wanted to present B with something special, to let him know how very proud we are of him, especially for such a milestone in his little life. We received an opportunity to work with My FairyTale Books, which is a personalized children's gifts company, in New York. We were offered the chance to select and personalize a special book for B, and with everyone heading back to school this month and next, the timing couldn't have been more perfect! I went on the My FairyTale Books website, and browsed their incredible selection of personalized books for children. I wanted to be sure that I selected one that would be age appropriate for B, and one that he would enjoy. Though he already knows his alphabet, I thought that the Personalized ABC Book was a great choice for him.

I appreciated the fact that I was able to preview a sample of the book- from the cover to the pages. Once I was sure that this was the book I wanted to personalized for B, I began to enter in the information to personalize the book. I was asked to give my child's first and last name, gender, the name and gender of a friend/family member, and there were 3 lines for a special dedication. After I submitted all of the information for the special book, all that was left to do, was wait for it to arrive, which took just about a week's time.

I was so excited when the book arrived, and I couldn't wait to flip through it. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the book- the hardback cover was so nice, bright and colorful, and of course, had my little guy's name printed front and center!

The title/dedication page had our special message to B printed in a special yellow box, which looked like a dedication/name plate.

I tried not to become overly emotional as I read the dedication page, which read: This book was created especially for Balian Witt. We hope you love your first year of preschool... we're so proud of you! Love, Mommy & Daddy- 2014.

And to wrap up story time, we're encouraged to say the alphabet together.

The personalized A to Z book is beautifully illustrated. All of the pages are filled with fun, colorful pictures that children will love to look at and discover again and again! The pages have a nice gloss to them, but they're not too shiny, and they're a bit thicker than usual, which I appreciate, as we're still trying to teach B to be extra careful when turning pages.

I couldn't wait to present B with his special new book! I told him that because he's such a big boy, and will be heading to preschool in a few short weeks, that mommy and daddy had a special surprise for him. He was so excited, and couldn't wait to see what it could be! I asked him to close his eyes, and I placed the book into his hands. His reaction...

...was priceless! Just look at this face!

'Mommy, mommy,' he exclaimed, 'this book has my name on it!' I smiled as I told B that his name was not only on the cover of the book, but that it was on every page of the book, as the story was about him! B couldn't wait to check out the rest of the book, and read the story together. We sat down, and started at the beginning, going through every page of the book, which took us on a very special alphabet adventure!

This is such a wonderful book. It's helping B review his alphabet, and helping us get a jump on early reading. The book also contains a lot of rhyming words, which is great, because we've just started to work on lessons with rhyming at home. We have been having so much fun enjoying everything about this story book, from the silly pictures, to word recognition, and alphabet fun! We have read this book at least once every day since it arrived, and B has even been showing it off to his grandparents when they've come over to visit us. It's now the premier book to be read in our home.
