Barefoot Comfort in Kid-O-Fit Shoes! #Review + #Giveaway

I never thought that I would grow to dislike shopping for shoes. I love shopping for shoes of all styles (for myself), but when it comes to finding the right shoes for my son, I'd love to have a magic shoe fairy to call upon. When B was a baby, I enjoyed just picking out whatever I thought was cute, safe and comfortable for his little feet. Now that he's headed toward turning four years old, B is becoming quite the opinionated young man, and won't wear just anything. When we shop for shoes, the actual trying on process can be a nightmare, so when we find a brand that works well for his feet, we tend to stick with it!

Innovative Children Shoes - Logo

I was growing frustrated, however, because I felt like I was purchasing B new shoes every few months. He has been growing like a little weed (as children do), and I'm not interested in spending a ton of money on shoes he'll only wear a few times. When I was browsing for children's shoes not too long ago, I found Kid-O-Fit, and let me tell you- I sure wish I'd known about them a couple of years earlier!

Ron Bar, who has a PhD in biomedical engineering, has been designing innovative foot-care products for over 20 years. After several years with Orthofeet, Inc. (where Ron was Founder, and President), he founded Kid-O-Fit. Both of his children were having trouble finding well-fitting shoes for their own children, and encouraged Ron to explore using his expertise to develop high quality shoes for children. Ron took their challenge seriously, and got to work to create a shoe that would promote healthy foot development in infants and toddlers.

I was excited to connect with Ron, and learn about the benefits of Kido-o-Fit shoes for children. We were able to select a pair of children's shoes for B to try out, and I couldn't wait to get them, because I had a feeling they were going to be wonderful, and that B would love wearing them!

Special delivery from Kid-O-Fit!

As I opened the colorful Kid-O-Fit shoebox, I was greeted by extra shoe inserts... a first!

B's new Kid-O-Fit Shoes were wrapped nicely, and presented sole side up!

I was so interested to see what the Kid-O-Fit shoes would be like in person. I spent a great deal of time reading about how and why they're designed they way they are, from the Kid-O-Fit website, and couldn't wait to see what barefoot comfort looked like in a child's shoe.

Transparent soles...

The neat thing about Kid-O-Fit shoes, is that they have transparent bottoms. The inserts come out of the shoes, so that parents can actually see where the toes are stopping while the child has the shoes on. No more pushing down on their poor little toes, on top of the tip of the shoe, to 'guess' where the toes are stopping. With Kid-O-Fit shoes, just remove the inserts, have the child put the shoes on, and look for yourself- you'll be able to see their foot right through the bottom of the shoes! Genius!

You can also add the extra inserts to the shoes. Every pair of Kid-O-Fit shoes comes with inserts already in place, inside the shoes, and come with an extra pair of inserts, as well. This way, you can adjust the shoes for your child, to achieve the perfect fit! Again, genius! B has thick feet from top to bottom, and we have had the worst time finding shoes that fit properly, without having to squish his poor little feet into them. Removing the inserts completely gives B a lot of room. One insert pair in the shoes is a great fit for him right now!

Here's the style we received- Jacques in Brown, Size 11.

I love that these shoes look like a preppy little boat shoe, without laces.

I knew that the Jacques style shoe would be a great choice for B. He really needed a dressier shoe that would be comfortable to wear to church on Sundays. I was looking for a style that would work for dressier Sundays, as well as more casual looks. We sometimes go to two church services (contemporary and traditional) at our church on any given Sunday, which makes for a long morning. I need B to be in comfortable shoes, that he won't be trying to rip off an hour later. The Jacques is casual enough to wear with shorts, and nice enough to wear with long pants.

Love at first try... a perfect fit with Kid-O-Fit!

Lookin' good with navy blue pants on Sunday morning!

I was so surprised that B wanted to try his new shoes on. He's not usually so cooperative when it comes to new shoes. I allowed him to look at and feel the new shoes, before we put them on his feet. He said he liked the way they looked, and was ready to give them a try!

Adjustable fit

B was incredibly comfortable during the 'putting on' process of his new Jacques shoes by Kid-O-Fit. I know I already shared about the transparent shoe bottom, and that's just one of the nest things about Kid-O-Fit shoes! The shoes are completely adjustable and customizable to your child's foot. The opening across the top of the shoe is extremely wide, allowing the shoe to go on easily, without squishing or pinching the foot/toes (this is what we've always wanted in a shoe for B!). The heel is also adjustable. The heel strap can be adjusted to fit the width of the child's heel, giving them a comfortable fit and kicking shoe slippage to the curb!

Ergonomic design

The shoe is flexible! It's a soft construction, which gets your child close to barefoot walking, while the inner construction fully protects your child's feet. The design allows them to move their toes, so they won't be uncomfortable or restricted. The shoes are designed to move naturally, with your child's feet.

Fitting inserts

Inserts can be added or removed to achieve the perfect fit for your child. No one wants to have to deal with shoes that are too loose or floppy, or too tight. Just add an insert (or two or three) if needed, and remove them to allow your child more room in their shoes!

B, not super happy about having to leave the house, but loving his Jacques Shoes by Kid-O-Fit, regardless!

I was so happy with the way B responded to his new Kid-O-Fit shoes! He really loved wearing them the first time, and has asked to wear them again and again! He's worn them to church every Sunday for the past three weeks or so, and has received lots of compliments on them. He hasn't wanted to rip them off as soon as we get home, and he's kept them on through the morning and into the afternoon. When he is ready to take them off, however, he can easily remove them all on his own, without having to fight with the shoes, or scream for help from mommy or daddy. That bit of silence is music to our ears, and helps B gain a little more independnce, as well.

Kid-O-Fit Shoes are Dr. Recommended...

Barefoot Children Shoe Review
Yaron Harel, MD, Pediatrician
Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ

'Kidofit shoes comprise important biomechanical features, which are essential for healthy foot development in infants and toddlers. I also like the idea that Kidofit shoes are designed to fit the specific needs of children, rather than using adult shoe designs, and scale them down to fit kids.'

As a mom, I am happy to see my son so comfortable in his new shoes! We don't have to fight when we put these on, and I can tell how comfortable he is while wearing them. It's easy for me to quickly adjust the fit across the top or heel of the shoe, and if he needs a bit more room, I can also take the inserts out. In a few months, I'll take a look to see where his toes are, so I'll be able to tell if it's time for us to buy a new pair of Kid-O-Fit shoes.

Kid-O-Fit Shoes comes in so many wonderful designs for boys and girls!

We love these shoes so much, that Iwish they made them like this for bigger kids, and adults! I think every child needs a pair of Kid-O-Fit shoes, so that they will have a comfortable shoe that allows their feet to properly develop... we all know what uncomfortable shoes can do to our feet! We owe Dr. Ronnie Bar a great deal of thanks for thinking of children, and for creating and designing these wonderful shoes!
