Day Trips and Destinations: Where Should We Go Next?

I haven't really been on any trips during the month of September. We spent a few days at Lake Norman, which I know I've shared about. Our friend has a beautiful home there, and we enjoyed just having it be our home away from home for a few days. We cooked, ate, played, took the boats out, hubby rode the jet ski's, we did a little shopping and just had a grand old time. The lake is so pretty- it was hard to come back home.

Our family has been toying around with where we want to go or what we'd like to do next for a big family trip. We have a huge beach trip coming up next summer, where three of us MBP gals will be reunited. That's going to be a blast. My sis-in-law and her hubby are planning on taking a trip to Ireland in 2014, and my parents are going on a tour of Germany in 2014, so that has left us wondering... where should we go?

Oak Island, NC

I have a feeling we may be heading to Oak Island, a couple of days after Christmas. We haven't been there the week after Christmas since the year my son was born, but it used to be the norm. Hopefully, we'll all wind up at the beach house (owned by our very good friends) and spend a week relaxing, hanging out around Southport, visiting the Fort Fisher Aquarium, and maybe taking a day trip to Myrtle Beach for some shopping and dining. I will cross my  fingers that my sister Britt and her husband will be able to come out this way and spend the week with us.

We've got a few places we'd love to take Balian, though- like...

Disney World

We haven't done Disney yet, and I am itching to take Balian there before we have another baby. Seems like it would be a very special big boy trip for B. I have only been to Disney World once, and would love to go again. My husband can think of a million places he'd rather go.

LEGOLAND

If we're in Florida, I'd love to take B to LEGOLAND. Actually, I think my husband would be totally into this. Maybe we should take a family trip to Florida so B can have a LEGOLAND adventure with his cousins- I'll bet that would be an absolute blast for all of them! B is really starting to love Duplo and Lego blocks (I seem to be spending more and more time down on the floor these days!), and I'm sure he would be completely fascinated by all of these Legos!

Hershey Park

This would be a great place for us to visit on our way to or back from New Jersey to visit family, because we basically drive right past the park. We're no strangers to chocolate, and it seems like a world of fun for the kiddos. Maybe I'll skip the rides and just go take a chocolate bath or get a chocolate facial!

Crayola Factory

If we were going to be in PA, I'd love to swing by the Crayola Factory and let Balian see the world's largest crayon. We'd be able to spend the day exploring a world of creativity! I'm sure he'd love touring the factory, and being able to see how the crayons are really made, plus- take home a fresh crayon box!

I know that I can't expect that we'll take a big trip every year... and one of these days, I am determined to get to Italy. In the meantime, I've been to a lot of neat places, and my almost three-year-old is a well traveled little man. I'd just like us to be able to use our passports again, before they expire. I can't wait to share our next adventure with you!

Be sure to tune in next week- we're visiting a pumpkin patch this weekend and we can't wait to share all about it next Friday!

Where are some amazing places you've been to or would like to go to?

  1. I absolutely loved the trip to Disney World when I was a kid. I'm hoping to take my little one there in the next few years. They've added so much since I've been!

  3. Indeed, all the places you guys choose are well for a happy vacation. People who prefer fun Florida is the best place but if you are a want some peace and luxury with royalty then there is no better choice than Ireland. I have been to Ireland this summer for a weekend golf break and i have to say this is one of the best idea for spending a relaxing weekend break anywhere in the world.
