Bebe Au Lait Review and Giveaway

Part of the MBP Pregnancy & Newborn Reviews
**Since we at MBP like to bring an assortment of things to our readers, it makes sense that we offer a range of pregnancy and newborn items right now. We searched around for some of the best companies we could find and we have been blessed with some amazing products.**

I love nursing, I believe it to be the best option for MY children. I feel that all moms who breastfeed should be able to nurse whenever and wherever they need too. That said, I am not a very public nurser, I much prefer to be somewhere closer to home, but when I do nurse in public, which with baby C has been much more frequently than with my other two, I definitely cover up. Not only to cover myself and all my parts that might be showing, but to block out the distraction around us so baby C will pay attention to the task at hand.

With B, I used blankets, which was always so hard to manipulate and get to stay where I wanted it too. With S, I used a nursing cover, which I borrowed from my sister in law, I liked it but sadly it wasn't mine to keep. This time around, I was ready to buy a few of my own, I wanted one to keep in the diaper bag and one to keep at home (for those unexpected visitors). I shopped around and couldn't find anything I was in love with pattern wise so I just kept holding out.

Sometimes holding out can pay off, because I found and contacted an awesome company who specializes in nursing covers. They were happy to work with us and share their products.
Bebe au Lait, based in California, was established in 2004 and originally called "Hooter Hiders". The Bebe au Lait nursing cover was created out of necessity (like most helpful baby products) by co-owner, Claire. Claire was having challenges nursing in public (me too!) and wanted something easy to use, stylish, and mom/baby friendly to cover herself with. Bebe au Lait was a huge success and has since grown into three brands: Hooter Hiders, Bébé au Lait, and Lille.
"At Bébé au Lait, our passion is to create and innovate the most beautiful and functional parenting products in the world. We are committed to releasing only those of the highest quality and pride ourselves on providing extraordinary customer service."

I worked with Amanda, who offered to send me a nursing cover of my choice and also offered one as a giveaway to a lucky MBP reader. I sent her my pattern favorites, both were gender neutral since we didn't know what we were having, and let her choose what to send. I couldn't wait to see which one she chose. Amanda was really friendly and was getting ready to go on maternity leave about the time baby C was due. I hope all has gone well for her too!

My package from Bebe au Lait is here!
Amanda sent me the Bebe au Lait nursing cover in Ascot. The nursing cover retails for $35 and is worth every penny. I love this thing! I am so blessed that companies are so generous with us because we truly are lucky. I can not be happier with my nursing cover from Bebe au Lait.
The Bebe au Lait Ascot Nursing Cover covers all the bases for me.
-Color & Style-
The pattern is gorgeous and stylish. It is a silvery blue color with leaves, flowers, and blooms in olive, white, and dark purples. Bebe au Lait has 20 patterns to choose from, anyone can find a color and style they would like.
-Size-
The size of the cover is perfect, I do not feel like anything is hanging out or showing, which is a huge must have for me. I don't feel nervous about anyone catching sight of anything because of how much coverage it offers. The cover measures 26" x 36".
 -Design-
When I nurse, I like to be able to see baby C. The Bebe au Lait covers use a patented RigiFlex neckline that offers views of the baby so I can be comfortable and have a great view of her. It also offers a single layer of fabric, not too thin or thick for good ventilation. Even on some of the hottest days outside, baby C has been comfortable, protected from the sun and not getting too warm. It also has a very easy to use d-ring neck strap, it is easily adjustable and stays put.
-Durability-
It is incredibly well made of 100% cotton and machine washable. I have washed it over and over after many outdoor outings and it always comes out as nicely as it went in.
-Use-
Not only is this a nursing cover, it has many other uses too. I have used it to cover up a car window when I was nursing to shield both of us from the hot sun, as a blanket at the soccer field, a burp cloth, and to store pacis and my nursing shield in the small terrycloth pockets. I can also quickly roll it up one handed and throw it back in the diaper bag for next time.

One of my great friends has a baby a few weeks older than baby C. She had seen me use the Bebe au Lait nursing cover, asked me where I got it, and ordered one of her own because she thought it was such a perfect cover. We both would recommend it to other moms too!

  2. I really like the La Jolla pattern. I'm nursing 2 children right now, this would really help when I'm out in public. I usually have to nurse in our car sometimes.
