Breast Cancer Information Every Woman Needs to Know Available Through Lifescript #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post by me on behalf of Lifescript.com.

My mom is a breast cancer survivor. She is a beautiful, strong woman- a wife, and mother of two girls, and a grandmother, too. She's always lived her life, thinking of others before herself, and growing up, I hardly remember her ever being sick with so much as a common cold. I'll never forget, however the day she told us that she found a lump in her breast, and would be making an appointment with her doctor as soon as possible. From that moment, our lives were forever changed.

What is Lifescript? Lifescript.com provides medical information, tips and advice that are all written by professional health writers, experts and physicians.

My mom went through several biopsies and surgeries, and wound up having both breasts removed, and later reconstructed. After the surgeries and what seemed like a million docotor visits later, she was told she was in remission, and as a family, we rejoiced. However, we were very aware of the possibility of the cancer resurfacing- even elsewhere, and my sister and I knew that we would now be at a higher risk of developing breast cancer in our lifetime. We banded together, vowing to remind one another to do our monthly self-checks, to take the doctor's advice and being having mammograms performed annually starting at the age of 30, and we promised to really keep up with breast cancer research and learn all we could about it, and how to lower our risk.

Celebrating my 30th birthday with my family, on the Carnival Legend

I turned 30 in January, so now more than ever, I am trying to squelch my fears about breast cancer. I figure the more I know, the less there is to fear, and the more I can do to be proactive. Lifescript.com offers so many breast cancer articles, which I have found very helpful. I've been reading about maintaining a healthy diet, and trying to keep free radicals out of the body. Antioxidents are a great neutralizer against free radicals, which I didn't realize before.

Since my sister and I are at an elevated risk for breast cancer, I wanted to be refamiliarized with breast cancer basics, as well as facts about breast cancer, and also wanted to read a bit more about what a mammogram will entail, since I will soon need one. It made me feel good to see that I am taking some of the right steps toward lowering my risk of developing breast cancer by being active, not smoking, having had my first child before I turned 30, and breastfeeding, as well.

My son, age 2 & 1/2- all the reason I need to stay informed and to be proactive.

I know that there isn't a set script that I can follow for ensuring that I wind up cancer-free for life, but Lifescript has given me a world of information at my fingertips. With the way technology so rapidly changes, I feel better having breast cancer news and resources available, anytime my mind starts wandring, and I have questions that I want answered by sources I can trust and rely on.
