4 Destinations You May Not Have Considered for Your Next Vacation

Are you bored of the same old Florida and California vacations? There are plenty of other locations around the globe that offer the same allure, whether you want to go hiking, skiing, surfing, site-seeing, or just relax in a resort. So, here are four destinations that could make awesome vacations that you may not have considered.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe isn’t the first place you think of when planning a vacation. However, this cute town shouldn’t be overlooked. There are art galleries all over featuring Native American sketches and the Wild West. The museums include the Museum of International Folk Art, the Museum of Indian Art and Culture, Lensic Performing Arts Center, Nedra Matteucci Galleries, the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, and the New Mexico Museum of Art. In addition to the art scene, you’ll find rodeos, golfing, shopping, and dinning, all in great warm weather.

Johannesburg, South Africa

Look for South Africa hotels near Johannesburg for a vacation experience you didn’t know existed. There is so much to do in Johannesburg and so many things to learn about. You can start out at the South African National Museum of Military History or go to the Apartheid Museum. Then, go to Nelson Mandela Square for fun shopping and dining options. If you venture out a little farther from Johannesburg, you can see authentic dance ceremonies and traditions of the Zulu nation and other tribes. Johannesburg is a little gem many travelers overlook.

Houston, Texas

If you like vacationing in big city life, but don’t want to pay the high price tag associated with going to Chicago or New York, Houston is for you. It offers endless dining and shopping opportunities. Plus, it puts you close to great recreation spots like Galveston beaches. Some of the city attractions include the American Cowboy Museum, Alley Theater, and Allen’s Landing. A little outside the city you can go horseback riding, hiking, water skiing, and more.

Vienna, Austria

When people travel to Europe, they typically stop in Italy and Spain. However, Austria offers a lot in terms of tourism. The area is covered in historical monasteries and palaces that are fun to explore. Some of the must-see stops include Melk Abbey, Hohensalzburg Castle, and Hofburg. Of course, you won’t want to miss hiking or skiing in nearby Innsbruck, either. This little town has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and is one of the largest ski resorts in the world.

These locations may not be the first thing on your mind when planning a dream vacation, but they certainly have a lot to offer. They aren’t as overcrowded as the main tourist cities, the attractions don’t cost as much money, and the accommodations are just as nice. What other vacation destinations do you think people should consider that normally aren’t on people’s minds?
