It's no secret that I sort of have a huge sweet tooth. I like my coffee sweet, my iced tea super sweet (Carolina style, that is), and when it comes to things like brownies, cookies, quick breads, etc- they're just not safe if they're left in my sight!
I recently became connectes with a fabulous cookie shop based in Long Island, NY... Sweet Andy's Cookies. Like many families in the United States, Sweet Andy, and his wife Lissa found themselves in a bit of a tight spot in 2009, after Andy lost his job. With five children at their sides, it was sometimes difficult to offer enough financial support through the 'other work' Andy had found, through the church. Though their finances remained tight, Andy's family was blessed by the outpouring of love from friends, who did things like fix the family car, repair a faulty furnace, and even help to stock the kitchen cupboards. Andy began baking cookies for his children during this time, and then felt that he should bake cookies and give them as thank you gifts to the folks who had been so generous to his family.
As their friends tasted the cookies, they were astonished that Andy baked them himself, and they loved that the cookies were so 'different' from all the other cookies out there. A good friend who owned a deli sat down with Andy, and they explored options and talked about how Andy might sell his cookies. Not long after the cookies appeared in the deli for customers to purchase, they sold out- and a a new business was born!
Andy was kind enough to offer to send my family some cookies for review, and knowing that I, too, have some cookie monsters in my house, I was sure my hubby and son would be excited!

Mmm... a whole box of freshly baked cookies to enjoy!
Andy sent us a large box of cookies, containing six cello bags, and each bag held five cookies each! That's thirty cookies, total! We received yummy cookies like Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip, Triple Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate & Macadamia Nut, and Chocolate!
With so many delicious cookies in our house, we didn't know which ones we wanted to try first! Everyone wanted to try something different, so we opened a few of the bags and everyone grabbed what they wanted. My husband went straight for the bag of Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies. He look one bite and gave me those 'I'm in love' eyes. Balian was interested in the Chocolate Chip Cookies, and took a little dude bite... and then kept taking more bites, which is a great sign from a two-year-old! As for me, I wanted to try the Chocolate Cookie first. This cookie was a chocolate sugar cookie... and so delicious!

Here I am, enjoying one of the chocolate chip cookies from Sweet Andy's.
Hey- where's my coffee?
As the next week and a half wore on, we ate lots of cookies and shared them with our friends and family, too! One of the best things about these scrumptious cookies, is that they're big, thick, soft cookies! I'm pretty full after eating just one of these treats. My extremely picky husband has been raving about these cookies, and eating them right up. I was even surprised to see that my two-year-old ate an entire Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Sweet Andy's (he's never liked raisins up to this point in his life!).

Balian definitely didn't want to share a bite of his Sweet Andy's cookie with mommy!
We found that the cookies were still fresh-tasting a week after we received them. One of the bags still had lots of cookies left in it, so I sealed them in a freezer bag, and placed them in the freezer so we could enjoy them later- maybe as ice cream cookie sandwiches! Yum! The cookies have a fresh shelf life of about two weeks. Store them in the fridge, and they'll last twice as long. Store them in the freezer, and pull them out one at a time, or a few at a time to enjoy the same fresh taste! You can let them sit out for a few minutes to come back to room temperature, or pop them in the microwave for a few seconds to soften them up.
