It's no surprise that as a young girl, I loved horses. My mom grew up on a farm, and as soon as I was old enough, I was going on horsey rides, with help and supervision. My mom has lost both of her parents, and lives pretty far away from where she spent her childhood. I know that a horse themed gift would be sort of different from what's she's used to receiving from me, but I can't help but feel that it would mean quite a lot to her, and bring back so many pleasant memories.
But what to choose? Obviously, she doesn't own a horse anymore. I've been mulling over a few ideas as to what she might like, in regard to horse themed gifts.
- A Horse Themed Fleece Throw Blanket would be a really nice, and thoughtful gift for any horse-lover. Who wouldn't want to snuggle up with a warm blanket, depicting a scene of wild horses roaming the plains? It would look lovely thrown over a couch, chair, or even displayed on a quilt rack.
- A collection of horse themed books would also make an excellent gift. The recipient could let their imaginations run as wild as their beloved horses!
- Horse themed wine glass charms would be a thoughtful gift for the horse lover who also loves to entertain!
- I found some beautiful Saxon gilets online at EquestrianClearance.com. This beautiful, practical apparel can be worn and enjoyed while riding, or just out in the fresh air, while going about your normal activities.
- Tickets or admission to a local stable for a day would also be thoughtful. Guests can come in and view the horses, enjoy horseback riding or carriage rides, brush the horses, feed them, etc.
I am thinking that perhaps a beautiful gilet, plus a day at the stables would be the way to go. We have a lovely park located about forty-five minutes from where we live, which offers state of the art stables, horseback riding and more. She'll never be expecting this. I can't wait to see her face when she opens her gift this year!
