OllieBeez Wooden Building Blocks (Review & Giveaway)

Part of Balian's 2nd Birthday Bash

As I was thinking about planning Balian's party, and looking around for cute Cat in the Hat party decor and themed items, I cam across an adorable surprise in the OllieBeez Etsy Shop. Owner Sara, stay at home mom to three little ones, creates and hand crafts adorable sets of wooden blocks, featuring beloved characters and themes. Imagine my delight when I found that she had Cat in the Hat wooden blocks in her shop. I couldn't refrain from asking her to be a part of our birthday bash for Balian, and she was delighted to be asked! Sara very kindly offered to send us a set of Cat in the Hat Blocks for review, and to help us celebrate our special little man's 2nd birthday.

I knew Balian was going to love the blocks. He loves to build (and destroy), and to do it with his pals- Cat, Fish, Nick and Sally, would be so much more fun! Sara contacted me and asked if I'd like her to include one extra block in the set- an extra letter 'A' block, so we could spell out Balian's name. I thought that was a great idea.

Sara got to work, and then sent out our package of blocks. The blocks arrived safely, in a nice plastic cellophane bag, with the blocks neatly arranged and displayed. I let Balian open up the blocks on his actual birthday, and as soon as he saw them, he yelled, 'Cat,' and started building a tower.

Take a look at all the fun Balian has been having with these blocks...

Spreading them out to make an 'alphabet train'...

Check out all of the fun colors and characters on these individual blocks- six sides to each one, of course!

This little guy loves these blocks!

About the blocks...

These are two inch wooden blocks, each containing two letters. There are a total of thirteen blocks in a set (fourteen in mine). Numbers 0-9 may be added to the blocks at no additional charge, and customers may choose upper or lowercase letters. All letters of the alphabet are displayed on the blocks- two squares on each block, and the remaining four sides show adorable Cat in the Hat images. All of the block sets are made to order, and additional blocks can be added for $2.00/each. Sara loves custom orders from her customers and from new fans. You have the option to search for Digital Paper on Etsy that you would like to have used on your blocks. Sara will purchase the listing for the paper, and then use it to create your custom blocks! How cool is that!? Non-toxic, water-based paint and sealants are used on the blocks, so if they end up in little mouths, it won't be a major issue- though, you should supervise little ones while playing with the blocks, and they are not meant to be used for teethers.

These custom Cat in the Hat Blocks from OllieBeez now have their own place to live- and deservedly so!

I couldn't wait to use the Cat in the Hat Blocks at Balian's party, and to show them off! I decided to use the blocks to decorate the mantle, and spell out Balian's name. Everyone at the party wanted to get a closer look, and just had to ask where the blocks came from. They were all very impressed, and thought the blocks were definitely a unique gift idea!
