Nothing screams 'party' like a good 'ol handful of confetti- am I right? Okay, so a lot of people choose not to use confetti when decorating for a party these days, because confetti can be messy... especially tiny little plastic pieces of confetti. I haven't used confetti at a party in a long, long time, and I thought it would be a cute and special touch for Balian's party to have some Cat in the Hat confetti flair- if I could find it.

Sure, I could have spent hours combing the web in search of this themed confetti- but who has the time? When I am looking for specialty items, I turn to Etsy, because there are thousands of crafters who have a passion for creating specialty items- by hand!



I was lucky to come in contact with New Creations & Co., and connect with shop owner, Val Freire. Val is from Boston, and is into scrapbooking, card making, books, boxes, baskets... and her daughter has joined her shop, offering beautiful jewelry! I love mother and daughter teams! Val puts her praise to the Lord at the forefront of her business- giving Him all the thanks for her gifts.

I had a great time working with Val. She offered to send us some personalized Cat in the Hat Confetti for Balian's party. She and I convo'd back and forth to make sure that Balian's name would be spelled correctly and that she had his correct age- 2.

I really left it to Val, and she went right to work, creating whimsical confetti for our party- by hand!  She personalized the paper confetti pieces with Balian's name, and age!


Our confetti arrived nicely packaged, with a beautiful handmade tag. I love the butterfly motif! The butterfly packaging was carried through our entire goody bag from New Creations & Co. As I removed the tissue paper from the confetti package, I noticed two pouches of different confetti designs- each in their own sealed plastic bags. The top pouch contained little paper party hats- in red, white and blue, and circle shaped confetti bearing the infamous 'hat' from The Cat in the Hat on one side, and the number '2' on the other. The second pouch contained little circle punches in red, white and blue, as well as circular shaped confetti with Thing 1 and Thing 2 on one side, and Balian's name on the flip side.

I love the colorful, festive confetti- and I can only imagine how long it took Val to punch each of these pieces by hand! We had a lot of fun with the confetti at the party. I enjoyed spreading it out on the tables and serving areas, and our party guests really enjoyed looking at it, picking it up, and admiring the fun designs and personalization!

You'd better believe that I scooped all of that confetti back up and saved it, because when I go to put the 2nd birthday scrapbook together, this will be a great way to decorate and embellish my photos and pages of the book!
