My family is just a little over two months away from going on our first-ever family cruise to Mexico, Belize and Roatan. Needless to say, we are all very excited. We have been on the go so much lately, that I am just now trying to wrap myself around the items we will need to make sure we have on hand, before setting sail on the open seas! I have everything I need to cruise for a week, but my hubby's needs are a different story. I don't just have to pack for myself on this trip- I have to pack for my husband, and my two year old. You know the drill- momma has to take care of everyone.
Even though we'll be cruising in January, when it will be chilly here in the Carolinas, it will be sticky, hot and humid down in the Gulf, so I need to make sure that Sacha has clothing and gear that will help to keep him cool, dry and comfortable. I never really thought about it until now, but sailing clothing is actually a great idea for him on this trip. I'm going to order a few different colors of the Helly Hansen Men's Driftline Polo Shirt for Sach, because it's made from absorbent material that he'll be extra dry and comfortable in. I know that I don't have to worry about us getting splashed while on the boat, but these shirts will be perfect for him to wear while sight seeing or on any of our off the boat excursions! They're even dressy enough for him to wear on the casual dress nights for dinner.
Take a look at this classy shirt...
I am also adamant about making sure that Sacha has a good, high quality rash vest. The sun is going to be super intense where we'll be visiting, and the last thing either of us want is for anyone to end up with a sunburn. Rash vests help to protect against the sun's harmful UV rays, and it's important that Sacha has one that will fit him well, and won't chafe his skin. I love the selection of rash vests from Marine & Outdoor Clothing. They carry favorite brands like Gill and again, Helly Hansen.
We won't really need sailing jackets where we're headed on this cruise, but I am hoping that within the next couple of years, our family can go on an Alaskan cruise. If we do ever end up doing that, we'll need heavier sailing gear, and a nice jacket will definitely be in order! I would even need a women's jacket on a cruise like that- something that would keep me very warm, like the Helly Hansen Women's Long Bellfast Jacket!
Don't you just love this?
If we can get our ducks in a row, and accumulate all of the proper protective clothing and accessories needed for our trip, we'll be good to go! Do you think it's too early for me to start packing? I'm so excited- I can't wait!
Where would you cruise to, if you could go anywhere in the world?
