Part of Balian's 2nd Birthday Bash



I love it when I find cool birthday themed items that can be used and enjoyed by the entire family- over and over again. I thought it would be a lot of fun to have a special piece of birthday serveware- like a platter or special plate. I was thrilled to connect with Judy Bumgardner, owner of  Clique Creative on Etsy. Judy is an incredibly talented Graphic Designer/artist, and enjoys painting on different types of surfaces. Painting on ceramics is a more recent venture for Judy, and it's one that suits her very well!



I was on overload (in a good way) when looking through all of the colorful pieces in Clique Creative. I knew I had to reach out to Judy, to see if she'd be interested in working with us for Balian's birthday. She responded with a wonderful offer to review one of her beautiful hand painted birthday plates, and got it all wrapped up, and sent it right out to me.

I just couldn't wait to see the ceramic plate in person. Judy sent me a photo of the plate she was sending, and it looked great online, but I knew it would blow me away when I held it in my hands... and I was right. Our package arrived shortly after setting up the review, and it was extremely well packaged, which I appreciated. Judy goes the extra mile to make sure her packages arrive in one piece.

As Balian would say, 'Ta-Da... surprise!' Look at this gorgeous handiwork! It takes an incredibly skilled hand to be able to do work like this!

When I carefully unwrapped the plate, I was greeted by colorful circles, and an adorable birthday cake- sort of leaning- which couldn't have been more perfect for our Dr. Seuss (Cat in the Hat) party theme! Even the colors in the plate were perfect for our party- blue, red, yellow- very Seussical! The heavy ceramic plate was dressed with a nice glaze, making it glisten under the light. I couldn't wait to use it at the party and show it off!

I thought it would be fun to present Balian with his birthday cupcake, atop this plate, and then decided against it- because I love the plate, and didn't want it to end up shattered on the floor. So, I kept the plate very safe until the day of the party, and carefully packed it to my mom and dad's house. I served up some of the birthday cupcakes on the plate at the party, and loved watching everyone's reactions as they grabbed their little cakes from the plate. I had such fun telling them about the artist, and that it was a hand painted plate!

This unique ceramic birthday plate is 11 inches, and is dishwasher safe- which I love! I have a few different hand painted glasses and other serving pieces, which I have to hand wash. This one is definitely a time saver! I ran it through the dishwasher after the party, and it came out looking as good as new! The colors can be changed on this design at no additional charge!

I love the Birthday Plates from Clique Creative, but the more I look around, I find even more adorable pieces that I'd either love to have, or would love to purchase and give as gifts!
