Part of Balian's 2nd Birthday Bash

I know that I am a hardcore momma, but sometimes, I am really just a big kid at heart. One of my favorite childhood pastimes, is coloring. I have fond memories of coloring with my little sister, my dad bringing me home new coloring books and crayons when I didn't feel well, and my Uncle Chris teaching me how to color the 'right' way. Coloring is for big and little kids- and even toddlers love to get their hands on crayons and simply create!

When I started thinking about party favors for Balian's birthday party, I really didn't want to necessarily go the traditional route of goody bags filled with candy. Most kids get so loaded on sugary cake, cookies and drinks at birthday parties, that treat bags filled with sugary confections are not so welcomed by moms and dads. Lucky for me, I found babypenelope on Etsy, and connected with shop owner and creator extraordinaire, Faviola Vega. Faviola hails from Jacksonville, Florida, and offers a myriad of handmade items for little ones.

Faviola was kind enough to send us a set of five Cat in the Hat Crayon Rolls, which she, of course, made herself! I thought that the crayon roll would be an excellent party favor for Balian's Cat in the Hat themed birthday party! There won't be a lot of little kids at the party- just a few, so five was the perfect amount!

Our package from babypenelope and Faviola arrived safely, within just a few days of connecting with one another. The crayon rolls were wrapped nicely in tissue paper, and tied off with a blue ribbon, and a business card.

Inside the tissue paper, we found the set of five Cat in the Hat Crayon Rolls. Made from an adorable Cat in the Hat printed fabric, each crayon roll holds four crayons, giving each their own little 'pocket,' for easy organization- plenty of room to hold your little one's favorite colors! Each crayon roll is 4.5" wide by 5" tall. There is a small elastic loop on one side of the crayon roll, so it can be rolled up, fastened closed over the coordinating button, and tossed into a purse or diaper bag. The crayon rolls can be made from just about any of the fabrics shown in the babypenelope Etsy shop, and the more you buy, the more you save! They don't come with the crayons, but you can easily add your own, or you can purchase additional crayons from babypenelope by contacting Faviola.

Now, we haven't had Balian's birthday party yet, but I know that these are going to be a big hit! I am hoping to either find some Cat in the Hat coloring books, activity books, or just print out some coloring pages for the kids to enjoy with their crayon rolls from babypenelope. Of course, I have already set one of these cutie patootie crayon rolls aside for Balian, and he just loves it! I am making sure that it is in our diaper bag at all times, so we are never found without crayons when we're on the go!
