When cloth diapering, there are so many rules and guidelines to follow: what brand of diaper, what type of diaper (AIO, OS AI2, flat, prefold, covers), detergent, cloth safe rash creams and of course, cloth or disposable wipes. Since we started cloth diapering 4 months ago, we have been using disposable wipes. Wee Essentials may have just changed me.
Wee Essentials was introduced to me by a friend (word of mouth is powerful advertising). I have never used cloth wipes or “soap bits” for a cleaner on Cameron, so I was really excited to try it out. Candice of Wee Essentials was kind enough to send me a soap bits variety pack and some cloth wipes to get me started.
Cloth wipes are a great eco friendly alternative to disposable wipes. They are so easy to use as I have found out, you just leave them inside the dirty diaper and they go right in the wash with your dipes. No searching for a trash can when out in public. Or if you're lazy like I am, no messing around with icky wipes on laundry day since I usually leave my dirty disposable in the diaper anyway.
Cloth wipes like paper towels & toilet paper can come 1ply or 2ply. Like everything else in the cloth diaper world its preference. The wipes that Wee Essentials sent me are 2 layers. They are all super soft and really absorbent. Did I mention they are so adorable!!
Now for those of you who have been reading along and are thinking what are these “soap bits” she keeps talking about, well those are what you use to spray on the wipes and clean your little one.
Wee Essentials makes their own soap in an array of scents. She then hand cuts them into these little “soap bits” and fits about 100 into each sampler pack. You can pick your own scents or get a prepackaged set like I did. Now i'm sure you're thinking this is going to be too much work but I promise its not. You only need a few things to get your Wee Essentials soap bits ready to use. You will need a cup, a microwave, water, 1-2 soap bits and something to put your mixture in (some sort of spray bottle works best) and in less than 2 minutes you're ready to go.
Step #1 Measure out the water you will need for your bottle and pour it in a cup and then add your Wee Essentials soap bits to the cup.
Step # 2 microwave in 10-15 sec intervals until Wee Essentials soap bits are melted (mine took about 20 seconds to melt).
Step #3 pour soap & water mixture into bottle.
Step #4 shake and you're ready to use.
See how easy that was moms & dads? Now, when you're ready to change your little one, just get out a cloth wipe or two give them a couple of spritzes and use them like a regular baby wipe. So easy!!
I would like to thank Candice & Wee Essentials for introducing me to the world of soap bits & cloth wipes (I was so excited and used my 5 wipes right up I just had to make my own!!).
