Every once in a while, I come across unique finds that are just too cool not to share. This is definitely the case with artist and designer, Liane Fried. Liane hails from the NYC area, and has a passion for creating functional works of art, and sharing them with the world.

Liane is a professional illustrator, and spent years traveling all over the world. In 1990, Liane moved to upstate NY, and was unable to find a job, so she turned to polymer clay, and began creating whimsical creatures- animals and little divas. Liane was encouraged by the local art community, and those who showcased and sold her works of art in their shops. This wonderful encouragement helped to launch a brand new career for Liane. Now, Liane has returned to her illustrator roots, and spends her days creating charming works of art, which she sells through her shop.

I connected with Liane a few months back. I had the opportunity to look through a slide show of her recent work, and was immediately drawn in by her whimsical designs. In each picture I viewed, I was reminded of a loved one. When I came across a cute jungle monkey design, I couldn't help but think of my own cute little monkey- 21 month-old, Balian.

Liane happily let me choose one of her eclectic decor pieces to review, and of course, I decided to go with a piece that featured that cute monkey!

 Adorable Monkey Clock/Magnet by Liane Fried Studio

This adorable work of art is both a clock and a magnet! I love that it is both decorative and functional. Now, the package from Liane Fried Studio arrived when we were on vacation. So, unfortunately, it sat in my house for two weeks, before I was able to let it out of the box and begin to use it. When we returned home, though, I was delighted to see the miniature clock, and couldn't wait to use it!

Here we go- the Monkey Mini Clock/Magnet sits cheerfully on my son's bookshelf...

By simply inserting one AA battery into the clock, it was given life, and ready to tell us the time! When I turned it over, to place the battery in the clock, I noticed the magnet on it! I thought it was pretty clever of Liane to design this cute little clock to stick to say, the refrigerator, or to sit/rest on a stand, and function as a desktop clock. Since I first thought of my precious son, who has a jungle-themed bedroom, when I saw this clock, I knew it belonged to him. I placed the adorable clock in his bedroom, sitting on top of his bookshelf, with some of his other favorite treasures.

Balian loves the Monkey Clock from Liane Fried Studio! Every time he sees it, he exclaims, 'monkey, monkey!' The cute monkey has on a pair of cool sunglasses (which Balian thinks is awesome, because he loves to wear sunglasses, as well), and hangs from a tree. Every time I lay eyes on this cute clock, it brightens my day, and lightens my mood! I can't not smile when I see it!

Liane Fried Studio features so many whimsical decor and gift items that I could quite easily see myself giving as gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, showers, Christmas, appreciation, and more. Liane has items appropriate for kids, pet lovers, folks who love to read, gifts for the home, etc.
