Oh, how I love summertime! When I think of summer, I definitely think of the beach. It's one of my favorite places to be- to rest, relax and play. This year, we took an early vacation, which would end up being a two week beach vacation. Though I love the beach, I don't always love the thought of getting into a bathing suit. Pre-baby days, it didn't matter- my body rocked, and I could wear a bikini, no problem. Today, I'm not without my problem areas, and am especially mindful  of my baby 'pooch,' something I know my fellow mommas can relate to. My husband sweetly suggested a one-piece suit, if I felt self-conscious about a two-piece suit. I was determined, however, to get back into a bikini this summer.



So, I began my search for a new bathing suit. Locally, I found zilch (which isn't surprising), so I took to internet and started to poke around online. I'm not quite sure how I got there, but eventually, I landed on the site for Aventura Clothing, which is an organic clothing company. When I started looking for a bathing suit, organic never even popped into my mind, but as I began to look around the Aventura Clothing online shop, I liked what I saw. I decided to reach out to Aventura, and connected with Angie. I swim suit of my choice for review, and was pretty excited.

Aventura Clothing has a really great Swim and Beach Collection. I ended up choosing the Wavy Stripes Recycled Polyester Bikini in Tobasco. I liked the colors of the strips, against a bold strip of brown fabric. We went back and forth on the size of the suit I needed, but eventually landed on a size Small, rather than Extra Small. Angie had my suit sent out right away, and when it arrived, I couldn't wait to try it on, hoping desperately that it would fit and flatter.

My package from Aventura Clothing was really cute. Along with the swim suit, came a little package of taffy. I love taffy, so that didn't stick around very long. Since no one else was home when the bathing suit from Aventura arrived, I figured it was as good a time as any to try it on.


 The Fit- Bottom:
The bikini bottom slipped on easily, and I was immediately in love with the fit. The bottom of a bikini is usually a nightmare, but this one is beyond perfect. It cut in just the right place across my tummy, and flattered nicely, unlike the other bathing suits I tried on, which cut in the wrong place, and only accentuated my dreaded baby pooch. The Aventura suit bottom actually covered my stretched out skin. The other thing that I really loved and appreciated about this suit bottom from Aventura Clothing, is that it covered my rear. Really- my cheeks weren't hanging out of this suit, the cut in the front flattered my thighs, and there was no muffin top in sight!

The Fit- Top:
I loved the top piece to the Wavy Stripes suit, too. I am a big fan of halter or tie tops. The Wavy Stripes Bikini Top ties around the neck, and around the back. The tie fabric is stretchy, and comfortable, and allows for a truly customized fit. I'm fairly small-chested, so having the ability to adjust the suit to fit me just the way I like it, is always important to me. The top fit perfectly. It even has a cute little O-Ring in the middle, which was new for me, but it really added a little extra fun to the suit.

Wear and Play:
The real test of course, came when I was actually at the beach, at play in the sun and surf. I have a very curious and extremely active 20-month-old boy, who was constantly running up and down the beach, and back and forth from our base camp to the water to fill up buckets, etc. He also wanted to be held in the water, but was very clingy, as he was unsure of the waves. If you've ever had a toddler clinging to you like that, you know how important it is to have a bathing suit that fits well! I can happily announce that the Wavy Stripes Bikini top and bottom stayed in place while I wore it, each and every time. The waves didn't knock my top off center, the bottom didn't slip or flap around under the water, and nothing crept up while I was playing in the sand or chasing my son around.

Not that I'm trying to flatter myself, but I do feel that the bikini from Aventura was just right as far as the fit, and I loved the colors in the suit pattern, too!

Bottom line, this wonderful bathing suit afforded me a wonderful beach experience with my family. My husband really loved the way this bathing suit fit, and he was happy that I was complaint-free about how I looked in my suit (for once), which meant a more enjoyable vacation for him, as well!
