We are big granola lovers! Ever since my dad switched to a healthier, low-sodium diet back in 2003, after winding up in the hospital for arrhythmia and CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), everyone in our family has made an effort to live a healthier lifestyle. As a family unit, we began exercising more, and changing our bad eating habits. The thing I really learned and loved about eating healthier, was that we could still treat ourselves to delicious snacks or desserts, and regular meals, even by making simple changes. One of those changes was baking healither cookies at home, instead of buying them already made, or buying pre-made mixes. My mom started making delicious homemade oatmeal raisin cookies, which I still often beg her to make for me! Thanks to having wonderful grains on hand, healthy snacks and meals at home, are simple again!

 Nature's Hand

I got to experience a brand new brand of granola a couple of weeks ago from a company I've never heard of before. Nature's Hand makes and sells a delicious variety of granola and serves up lots of free recipes, too! It all started about 40 years ago, for Nature's Hand, when two Bavarian immigrants, residing in Minnesota, decided that they wanted to start blending and baking their own mix of nuts and grains. Today, what started as a unique experiment of flavors, using a recipe from the old country in Northern Europe, has expanded into a wonderful business, and is loved by a wide customer base, using this yummy granola as cereal, in baking, as toppings, and more!

I was lucky enough to receive not one, but two different flavors of Nature's Hand Granola in Cinnamon Apple and Raisin Hazelnut. Both of the granola samples that I received were full sized 13 oz. bags, and I also received a nice little glass bowl with a lid (Crate and Barrel- love that store!), along with them from Nature's Hand! The bowl was a special surprise!

I decided to try the Cinnamon Apple Granola from Nature's Hand first. I opened the package, and was pleased to find that the bag is resealable, keeping it fresher, longer! I sampled a handful of the Cinnamon Apple Granola, by itself, first. I loved the light sweetness against the subtle hints of apple and cinnamon, combined with the fresh, crunchy texture of the grains. The bag was filled with clusters of granola, as well as loose grains, and delicious dried apple slices! The Raisin Hazelnut flavor is also incredible! It's packed with sweet, crunchy granola, along with flavorful raisins and bits of hazelnuts!

I have enjoyed these granola flavors from Nature's Hand plain- as a snack both mid-morning and mid-afternoon. It's the perfect energizing pick-me-up for anytime of day or night! I've also enjoyed both of these flavors of granola for breakfast. I've filled up my cute little bowl with granola and 2% milk, and eaten it right up as a healthy, yummy breakfast cereal.

Because Nature's Hand gives their customers free recipes on their website, I am planning on using a potion of the Raisin Hazelnut Granola for delicious, homemade cookies! I also can't wait to try the Cinnamon Apple Granola sprinkled over my vanilla bean ice cream! There's also a yummy-sounding Granola Muffin recipe that I can't wait to try!

Balian has also been loving the granola from Nature's Hand. When I can't get him to eat anything else, I just give him a scoop of granola, and he eats it right up! I am so happy to have found a delicious, healthy treat that I can feel good about giving to him!
