To me, there's nothing more relaxing than spending time outdoors, working in my yard. I love gardening, and I add things to my flower beds and garden areas all season long. After I am satisfied with the plantings, I care for each of them, and then start adding a little bit of garden decor here and there. I'm really picky about my garden decor, though. I won't put just anything in my yard- there needs to be a reason to place it there. I decorate with planters, lanterns, plaques and flags, because I like them, and then I also decorate with bird feeders and baths, because I love to watch our fine feathered friends enjoying all that my yard has to offer them.

Since I am such a lover of unique, and often meaningful garden decor, I knew I had to reach out to Jan Peters, owner of Main Line Designs on Etsy. Jan has volunteered at a no-kill animal shelter for 17 years, and through her shop, offers beautiful pet memorials, garden stones, oathing stones, and address markers, which are all custom engraved. Jan knows the joy that pets can bring into someone's life, and she carves each special stone with heartfelt love. The pet memorial stones are touching, and I can only imagine the comfort they would bring to someone who has loved and lost a pet and best pal. The garden stones caught my eye, though, and Jan offered to send me one of her lovely custom engraved Mother's Day Birth Stones for review.

 Custom Engraved Birth Stone- perfect gift for any mom!

Jan chose to send me a stone that she had already created, which bears the name 'Mathew', and the birth date 10/28/2010. Though I wish the stone had my own son's name and birth date on it, it's definitely a beautiful garden stone. The stone itself is about 6 1/2 inches wide, which gives Jan plenty of room to engrave it with a name, a pair of sweet little baby feet, and the birth date! This would make such a special gift for a new mom! It would also make a beautiful gift for a seasoned mom- a wonderful way to celebrate motherhood, fatherhood, being a grandparent, etc! 

I, of course, had to place the stone in my garden, regardless of the name on it. I placed it among the mums that I transplanted a few weeks ago, creating a new planting area along the side on my house. The bed still needs a little work, but the custom garden stone definitely gives it a little boost, and adds to the beauty of this little area. I can't wait to see what it will look like when the flowers are in bloom!
