Jamberry Nails with Lori Long (Review & Giveaway)

~Part of our Spring Fashion & Beauty Feature~

Happy St. Patricks Day!

We feature many Direct Sales companies on Mommy's Block Party and are so thankful for each of our consultants. I know many times I have read one of Jess, Ondria, or Britt's reviews and thought, "man that was cool, wish I had gotten to try that one" or "wish I could enter our giveaways to win that". This is one reason our DS companies rock! We can work with different consultants from the same companies and each get our own experience with the products.

One such instance is with DS company, Jamberry Nails Shields. Jamberry Nails was created by three sisters who enjoy fashion and a day at the salon, but also knew there had to be a less expensive way to have a high-end look for their nails. I was lucky enough to work with consultant, Lori Long, who was excited to work with us at MBP and sent out a few samples and set of Jamberry Nail Shields.

Jamberry Nail Shields are a solid film shield applied directly to the nail. It is pressure and heat activated for a water tight bond, finished with a high gloss layer. Jamberry Shields are made in the United States, available in over 60 colors, styles, and designs, and should last around 2 weeks on fingers and 4-6 weeks on toes.

My package from Lori, included a full sheet of Green Shamrocks, and samples of Blacks/Whites, Stripes, Polka Dots, Zebra, and Flowers.

I am not a huge flashy fingernail person, within the last year I kicked my nasty nail-biting habit and have tried to keep my nails clean and simple since then. My toenails are usually where I show off my style a bit and I LOVE flip-flops so my toes are usually showing.

I was really excited to try out my Jamberry Nail Shields, but since St. Patricks Day was still a bit away, I went ahead and tried my samples first. I had high hopes that even not-so-talented me, would be able to apply the Jamberry Shields correctly and have them look decent.

I got all my supplies (Nail polish remover or alcohol, nail clippers, nail file, cuticle pusher, nail buffer, hair dryer, nail scissors, and Jamberry Shields) and set off on my first Jamberry Nails experience. The directions were clearly stated in 8 simple steps. Steps 1-3 involved cleaning my nails with remover or alcohol, cutting, filing, and buffing my nails, pushing back my cuticles. These three steps alone were a nice little manicure for my fingernails. Steps 4-8 involved matching, trimming, prepping, and applying the nail shields.  I found doing steps 4-8 alone was a bit difficult and time consuming for my fingernails, but knowing it was my first time, I tried not to get frustrated.

Jamberry Application Video "How To"

I did just one fingernail on each hand with Black Floral.
Patience paid off and I was really enjoying the look of the Jamberry Shields.

A few days later I tried the Jamberry Shields again, this time going for my toes. I chose the Mulberry Flower on White. I knew I had matching paint so I decided which toe the shield would go on, and painted the rest. I loved this look and got quite a few compliments on how cute they looked.
I had my toenails like this for about 4 weeks and only had to touch up my toenails with pink paint. The shield did not chip or scuff and only came off because I was ready to try another set. They were easy to remove, just a little heat from the hair dryer and peeled right off.

My next Jamberry adventure was with the St. Patricks themed Green Shamrocks. I thought they were a bit loud for my fingernails since we would be attending a wedding over St. Patricks Day, but my toes were the perfect place for a bit o' green to celebrate.
My cousin was in town and wanted to have a little fingernail flair as well. She added just one green shield to her thumb for a little spice (I forgot to snap a picture of it). I went ahead and did my toenails and I am so excited to show them off and not get pinched for being greenless.
I would have to say that the application process was much easier for me the second and third time around and know with time, not a problem at all. I also think that doing my toes was easier as well.
