Part of our Easter Parade Feature

Believe it or not, Easter is just around the corner! I am hardly ready for it, but some of my neighbors have had their outdoor Easter decor up for at least three weeks by now. I have put out a few little touches throughout my home, and now that Easter is officially inching closer, I feel that I can begin to put out a few more items.

I love seasonal decor, but I know that too much of it can end up looking trashy, rather than classy. I usually try to stick with vintage inspired or looking decor, rather than anything that looks too cartoon-ish or commercial. My husband also seems to take it in a little better when I decorate with things that simply fold right into our decor.

Not long ago, I connected with Susan Reinhold, owner of Abundant Haven on Etsy. Susan has a passion for crafting like I do for blogging and singing. Susan has created beautiful seasonal accents, with a large selection just for Easter. As I browsed her shop, I came across many items that I would love to own and use through out my home, or to give as gifts. Susan kindly offered to send me one of her beautiful Easter themed pillows of my choice.

I chose to review the lovely 'Eggs 4 Sale,' 12" pillow, and couldn't wait to see what it was going to look like in person, and in my home! It didn't take long for the special pillow to arrive from Abundant Haven, as Susan sent it to me Priority Mail. When I removed the pillow from the box, it was so nicely wrapped in tissue paper, and there was even an added surprise! Susan also sent me one of her new Lavender Sachets, which I was super excited about!

The 12" Hopsack Pillow from Abundant Haven is beautiful! It features a simply charming vintage Easter postcard on the front, with lovely brightly colored eggs, and two bunnies, hard at work to deliver the Easter eggs They are so cute! A piece of fabric displaying 'Eggs 4 Sale,' is sewn above the postcard picture. The pillow has an envelope back closure, which allows the owner to easily remove and reinsert a pillow of appropriate size. This pillow does come with the pillow already inserted- you wouldn't be purchasing just the cover.

Susan doesn't just work to make the front side of the pillow eye-catching, she also adds a special touch to the back of the pillow. Each pillow features a little key charm, and an Abundant Haven label. The key charm is a sweet little reminder to 'open every door' to peace and abundance in your holiday home. I love that! I have been showing the key charm off, as I've shared the pillow with family and friends, and everyone has thought that the key charm was absolutely cool!

I was next greeted with the task of where/how to display my new pillow for the Easter season! I tried it in several places- on my mantle, in a chair, and then I finally decided that the colors really went along with the colors in my dining room. Now- I have to be honest here in saying that I hate the border in my dining room. We are renters, and my landlord loves the 'country' look... and I don't mind the country look, but the border in my dining room just gets to me. I have to look past it, and try to decorate around it... which is sort of difficult at times! I decided to place the pillow on a table in my dining room, because the Hopsack Pillow from Abundant Haven helps to dress the space up. The colors blend nicely with the colors used in the dining room, and I am pleased with the way the display looks. If I knew it would be well-protected, I might even display the pillow on the little table I have sitting beside my front door, on the porch- it would look really cute there!

Onto my surprise item, the Lavender Sachet! This is one of Abundant Haven's newer items for spring 2012, and I am just tickled that Susan decided to send one to me. The sachet features a beautiful woodland bird's nest and four speckled eggs tucked inside. The image is printed on 100% cotton cloth and tied closed with rustic twine. The edges are frayed just a little bit at the top of the sachet, to continue that rustic charm effect. The lavender used comes from a farm in Missouri (Susan lives in Missouri), and is gently folded into clouds of cotton, and then placed into each cotton envelope to fill the sachet.

Look at how beautiful this sachet is! I have owned many a sachet, and have never seen one so gorgeous! It's so pretty that I couldn't bear to tuck it away into a drawer or corner where it wouldn't be seen! I have had it sitting out, alongside my pillow, and have been loving the charm it has added to my dining room! I may move it to a different spot, as I have four decorative bird's nests that look exactly like the one pictured on the sachet! I would love to make a little display with all of them together, with the sachet being the star of the show. After the holidays, I plan to use the sachet in my laundry room/powder room. It's painted a spingtime blue, and the sachet will help any staleness to evaporate. I have to keep the door closed at all times so that a certain little man doesn't go snooping in there! These sachets are so pretty, and can be used virtually anywhere you'd like to add a subtle touch of beauty. The scent of the fresh lavender is so calming. My powder room is like a little escape for me- it's where I keep all of my beauty items, so the sachet will be a welcomed addition!
