My Boutique Review & Giveaway

Part of our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide

Before I got married, I was a paper towel user and abuser. It's understandable to want to use a paper towel to clean up a big mess, but there's no reason to use them for everything. I am not allowed to buy paper towels. My husband didn't grow up in a house where paper towels were used, so therefore, when we got married, I had to kiss them goodbye. I sort of had to get used to a whole new world- living without paper towels. I no longer had them hanging around at my disposal and couldn't grab one for a spill, to use as a napkin, to use as a plate, etc.

If I wasn't going to be able to use paper napkins, that meant that I would have to build up a collection of cloth napkins, and that would mean more laundry. I thought that it would take a lot of getting used to and would be a difficult change to make, but as it turns out, it wasn't. Now, using a paper napkin is strange to me. I have a ton of cloth napkins, and that's what we use- dinner guests or not. My parents are even still a little thrown off by the cloth napkins for every meal when they come over. We've had most of our cloth napkins since we were married four years ago (our anniversary is the 17th). As you can imagine, some of them still look great and some of them have definitely seen better days. I've been eying new napkins for quite a while, but we do have a certain style and I was looking for a set that reflected our taste.

A couple of weeks ago, Heather Hardee, owner of My Boutique heard word of our Holiday Gift Guide and asked to be a part of it. Naturally, I was thrilled to include her and her business. She makes absolutely beautiful and super cute embroidered gifts for everyone! From children's clothing to items for the home, Heather is an embroidery maven! She offered up a set of four personalized, embroidered napkins for me to review, and of course, I was anxious to see what kind of work she did.

Heather and I e-mailed back and forth a few times about the napkin set. She sent me some photos of a few different options, and asked me to send her my color and personalization preferences. In the sample photos, there was a little cafe building with two bistro chairs... and they looked so adorable. This image was to be personalized with some sort of restaurant themed name, using our last name (Witt), and the image would be in the colors of my choice. I told Heather that our dining area and accessories are black and sage green. So, she took it from there and started on our napkin set. She sent me an e-mail to let me know that she'd be sending them out to us, and they arrived within just a couple of days.

Here's how they were packaged...

I immediately removed them from their protective bag and examined them. Heather hit the nail right on the head with the colors. She used black, green and a really lovely burnt orange for the bistro chairs. Across the top of the 'restaurant,' 'The Cafe Witt' is proudly displayed. Underneath the restaurant image, it says 'est. 2007.' This is extra special to me right now, since our wedding anniversary is so close! I love the way the colors just pop right off of the white napkins. The napkins are nice and soft, not at all stiff and starchy like a lot of cloth napkins tend to be. They can easily be washed and dried, too. I can't wait to have these out on display the next time we have friends over for dinner! They're sure to make an impression!

With these lovely embroidered napkins, I can set a festive table or I can use them for every day dinner. I think these would make a wonderful gift for a bridal shower, a wedding, an anniversary, new homeowners, etc. This would also make a wonderful Christmas gift!
