For the past couple of years, my husband and I have been trying to make good choices about the things we bring into our home. We have made an effort to recycle as much as possible, use green cleaning products, take our own shopping bags to the store with us, etc. We re-purpose items when we can, pass things on instead of throwing them away and even try to influence those around us. As much as I think about being green, it never even crossed my mind to take a look at fashion and the things hanging around in my closet. What are all of those articles made of, and where did they come from? Why does it even matter?

I recently came across one of the coolest sites I have ever stumbled upon. A Green Wardrobe is a company offering an online boutique filled with all organic clothes and accessories. I never knew such a place existed! A Green Wardrobe features designers who are making a conscious effort to support a green and ethical planet, while providing the world with functional fashion. A Green Wardrobe features global designers, and have brought many designer fashions to the US. Each piece of fashion carried by A Green Wardrobe is made from organic, sustainable, recycled and re-purposed materials. As consumers, we really don't know the effect the clothing industry has on us- but it's huge! A Green Wardrobe believes that 'a little bit of green can go a long way.'
I was given the opportunity to select a piece of clothing from A Green Wardrobe, and boy- did I have a hard time choosing something! From dresses to lingerie and accessories, A Green Wardrobe has everything you need to convert your wardrobe into an environmentally friendly and globally responsible collection that you can be proud of.
I chose to review the Juleselin Jenny Dress in Pewter, and I am ever so happy with my decision. When Tara from A Green Wardrobe wrote to me, letting me know that the dress way on its way, I couldn't wait for it to arrive! The dress looks so much better in person than it does online- which is amazing, because it looked gorgeous on the website! When the Juleselin Jenny Dress made it safely to my house, I unwrapped it and laid it out on the table so I could examine it.
The Juleselin Jenny Dress...
I couldn't wait to try the dress on! I waited until a Sunday to wear it to our contemporary service at church. Dress for that service is casual, so I like to be able to dress casually, but not too casually, because I lead worship by singing and am in front of the assembly for the duration of the service. So, Sunday seemed like the perfect day to try out my new dress from AGW. The first thing I noticed was how soft it felt, and rightfully so, since the dress is made of 93% organic cotton and 7% spandex. Nothing wrong with a little spandex, if you ask me! The cotton was nice and thick, though. I honestly expected to have to wear a slip dress underneath, because the way most dresses are made these days (sheer and tissue thin), you definitely need a layer that covers you! I was thrilled that I didn't need to add an extra layer underneath the dress and that nothing was showing that I didn't want to show.
The Jenny Dress is extremely versatile. The way it's designed, you can wear it several different ways, which is one of the many reasons why I love this dress. If I wanted to be a little bit dressy during the summer, I would wear the dress like this- paired with a nice pair of peep-toe slingbacks. Perfect for dinner out, a nice party, and maybe even to church, if you're brave enough to show that much leg! The puffed ruched neckline is so unique, and classic-looking to me. I think Coco Chanel would approve. The elastic waistline is flattering and forgiving. I was a little worried about the side seam pockets, only because they don't always flatter those with hips (like me!). Much to my surprise, they didn't appear to make me look hippy, and I oh, so love pockets! These pockets work well with the dress, so don't let them deter you from choosing the Jenny Dress!
Summertime style...
Another way to wear the Juleselin Jenny Dress is to pair it with leggings and flats. This is the way I chose to wear it on Sunday morning. The leggings offered forgiveness for my bending over to pick Balian up, etc. I will be rocking this style all through the fall season!
Fall into fabulous fall fashion with the Juleselin Jenny Dress...
And of course, I like to plan ahead, so I wanted to be sure I had the right look down for the winter months, as well. I traded my flats for my boots and the leggings for tights. I forgot to throw on a cardigan, but that's what I'd normally do for the cooler months.
Loving this wonderful wintry look...
When I was done playing dress up, I remembered my winter hat, and just for giggles, had my husband snap a picture to see what the dress would look like paired with some accessories!
Mix and match... change it up!
It's no wonder that this dress was recently featured in Lucky Magazine as one of the top cutest dresses of the season! I say that this a a dress for all seasons. I need to be a little more adventurous and play around with thigh high tights, scarves and color! I'll get there, but I need to be in a bold mood. For those of you who love to put your own stamp on an outfit, this is a must have key piece! Start with the Juleselin Jenny Dress and let your imagination run wild!
And don't just stop with the Jenny Dress! A Green Wardrobe has so many beautiful offerings on their website. I encourage you to take a look around and browse the fashions for men, women and children. I just know that you will be delighted and pleasantly surprised by what you find.
Personally, I'd love to add this to my Green Wardrobe collection next...
And I love vests on guys! Wish my husband would wear this...
And if Balian were a big boy, he could wear this adorable boy's tank...
Don't forget a cute scarf for fall!
