I've shared a lot about gardening this week, and still have more to share, but today, it's time to focus a little more on something for inside the home. I love decorating. I am very passionate about little touches through out the house that make it a home- an inviting place for you to live, for your family and a place even your friends would want to call home. The little things we do to bring color, dimension, organization, etc. can have a big impact in a small space, or even in a large space.
Something that's been extremely popular in recent years is using decals in your home. When Dali Decals offered me the chance to review their decals, I couldn't wait to give them a try! I'd never used a decal on the wall before, and there were a lot of spaces in my home that could use a little something different. I was given a $30.00 credit to use on the Dali Decals website to choose something for my home. When I went to their site to look around, I was extremely impressed! They have a huge selection of decals!
Dali Decals has an entire category of nursery oriented decals. Did I want something for Balian's room? There were so many cute images and phrases to choose from!
This beautiful tree would fit well in the nursery, where we have a Noah's Ark/Jungle Friends theme goin' on.
Or did I want something for my bathroom? The floor in our bathroom is so ugly, that I thought a decal on the wall might draw attention away from the floor! We have blue bead board on the walls in the bathroom and we have a beach theme happening in there.
This would look great on the wall in my bathroom!
I could have chosen a decal for just about anywhere in my house, and with so many to choose from, it did take me quite a while to decide on just one decal! As I imagined different decals in different spots through out my house, I then thought of the perfect place- my bedroom. We don't have a headboard, and adding a decal over over bed would make a big difference in the way the room looked. I scrolled through a lot of categories before I decided that I wanted a simple, yet elegant monogram over our bed. Dali Decals has a huge selection of monogrammed decals! You can personalize a decal with a name, or just use initials, or even just one letter.
I chose to review the Family Name Wall Decal in dark brown. I submitted my order through the website, which was really easy, and then when the decal arrived, I couldn't wait to put it up! The instructions are very easy to read, and detailed, which I found extremely helpful. This was not something I could do by myself, though. I always think it's better to have two sets of eyes for this type of thing so that you can ensure your placement is correct.

We followed the directions and placed the decal (with the paper still on) on the wall where we wanted it to live. We used painters tape to hold it up. We measured, made sure it was level, and then made some pencil marks so we would know where to place it after removing the thin paper backing. We then placed the decal sticky side down on the wall, and used the tool that comes with the decal to smooth over bumps. Now, we have plaster walls, so this did take us about thirty minutes to smooth out as best we could, and then remove the backing. This would work much more easily on an entirely smooth surface, and we knew the plaster would present us with a challenge. Once we were sure it was sticking to the wall properly, we carefully removed the backing, and stood back to take a look at our new wall decoration!

The decal looks great on the wall in our bedroom! We couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. It now gives what looked like a temporary room (since we moved in over a year ago) a true master bedroom feel, which makes this momma extremely happy!
Now that I have this beautiful decal adorning my bedroom wall, my mind is thinking of all of the other places in my home that could use a decal! My kitchen could use this one...

If and when I am ever ready to remove my decal, it simply peels right off the wall! How easy is that? I can simply change decals whenever I want to! This is great news, because Balian's nursery will be changing themes down the road... I hear dinosaurs from my hubby! With Dali Decals, we'll easily be able to make a dino-land for Balian without having to do custom murals, etc.

I think these decals are a great idea! As a renter, I'm unable to change the paint and have to really be aware of how many holes I put in the wall.
