Some Traditions Are Best Served on a Plate

Last week, I spent my days at Camp Lutheridge, one of our lutheran camps in Western North Carolina. We all know that camp food... is camp food, right?

Being adult leaders, we have the perk of leaving camp for outings, if we so choose. The leaders of our program make a point to gather for at least one outing all together.

Out of all the places in the Asheville/ Hendersonville area to eat, of course we choose one that we ALL go to every time we are up that way: Tupelo Honey.

Yes, every time I head to Asheville/ Hendersonville; I make it a point to stop at Tupelo Honey Cafe. There are 2 closer to me that I never visit; but almost always stop at the South Asheville location when I'm up that way (which is at least once, if not twice, a year).

I've written about Tupelo Honey Cafe in past travel features, I've visited numerous times, and the food is always good! I

t's also one of the few places that I'll order AND eat brussell sprouts. They are soo good.

So are the biscuits!

The cafe is known for it's fried chicken, but I was all chickened out after having eaten at another fav: Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack (and camp had chicken like, 4 times on the menu last week too). So meatloaf it is.

Why am I writing about this?

It's a tradition! Whenever we head up to camp for an event, we eat at our favorite restaurants, maybe hit up a favorite shop, and hopefully visit our favorite attractions/ venues.

Returning to restaurants that I know I love not only satisfies my stomach (and wallet), but also my soul. There is something about returning to a location that I love, nostaglia factors and all. In a world that changes so fast and hard, it's also reassuring that some things can remain the same (even if there are seasonal menu changes).

Cause I want to know if your family goes to the same restaurant every time you return visit to a location, or do you try newer restaurants?

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with being stable and returning to places you love! You know the quality of the food, what it tastes like, and how your money is being spent.

If you haven't been to Tupelo Honey, you can take my word and try something new! There are various locations over SC/NC now.

If your family travels, do you return to the same place? If so, what relationships with vendors/ attractions have you built over the years?
