Lately, I’ve found myself stretched in so many directions—motherhood, marriage, work, volunteering, church life… the list never seems to end. Some days I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above water. Between shuttling the kids to practices, helping with homework, managing dinner, and preparing for the holiday hosting season's rush, I often collapse into bed wondering if I've done enough.
I want to be the best mom, the most loving wife, the dependable friend, the faithful volunteer, and the devoted Christian woman. But honestly? Some days, I feel like I’m falling short in every single one of those areas. The laundry piles up, dinner is takeout again, and I forget to respond to an important email. I find myself praying, “Lord, I’m trying… I really am.”
And then, in the quiet moments—usually in the car after drop-off or late at night when the house is finally still—I remember that trying is enough. God doesn’t ask for perfection. He asks for our hearts. He meets us in the mess, the chaos, the exhaustion, and loves us anyway.
When I think about how often I strive to “do it all,” I realize that I’m forgetting the most important truth: my worth isn’t found in my productivity. It’s found in Christ. And He already calls me enough.
To every mom reading this who feels like you’re running on fumes, juggling schedules, planning holiday meals, volunteering at church, and wondering if you’re doing a good job—this is for you. You are seen. You are loved. And even when you feel like you’re failing, God sees your effort, your heart, your trying.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
That verse hits me right in the heart every time. No, I'm not talking about Bon Jovi, here. God’s grace fills the gaps where we fall short. We may not get everything right, but His strength shines through our weakness.
So, as we enter the busy holiday season—when the to-do lists grow longer and the expectations rise higher—let’s give ourselves grace. Let’s remind each other that showing up, loving well, and trying our best is enough.
A Prayer for the Mom Who Feels Like She’s Not Enough
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of motherhood—both its joy and its challenges. Lord, You see every weary mom who feels like she’s falling short. You know her heart, her love, and every effort she pours out for her family.
When she feels unseen, remind her that You see her.
When she feels like she’s failing, remind her that Your grace covers her.
When she feels empty, fill her with Your peace and strength.Help her rest in the truth that she doesn’t have to be perfect—because You already are.
Remind her that trying, showing up, and loving well are enough.Bless every mother reading this today. Renew her spirit, quiet her anxious thoughts, and surround her with Your unshakable love.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen.
You’re doing beautifully, mama. Keep showing up. Keep trying. God sees you—and He’s so proud of you.
