As a mom to a 14-month-old and a Montessori guide, I’m always aware that my actions can speak louder than words. Kids, especially at this stage of life, are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them. And it's not just about what I say, but how I act that shapes their understanding of the world. It’s tough to stay “perfect” all the time, and honestly, I don’t think that’s the goal.
What’s more important is showing my son that mistakes are part of life. I want him to see me own up to my mistakes, apologize, and learn from them. Perfection isn’t the standard; respect, accountability, and kindness are. I’m not raising a “perfect” child – I’m raising a child who knows it’s okay to be human. That being gentle with ourselves, offering grace, and taking responsibility for our actions are what truly make the world better.
So, this Monday, I’m reminding myself that being the best version of myself doesn’t mean being flawless – it means being real, showing up, and growing with my son every day.
