Footwear Trends for Fall 2024 and Beyond

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Responsival. All thoughts are my own.

With kids heading back to school over the next few weeks, I have had a firsthand look at some of the styles trending for Fall 2024. I spent the weekend shopping with my family, rising to the challenge of trying to find 'cool' styles for my teen, and for my elementary school-aged daughter. I have been tickled to see styles that I wore as a teen back in stores. Shopping with my kids is always like a blast from the past. My kids are always quick to tell me what's 'in' versus what's 'out,' even among what's hanging on the racks in stores.

We specifically went shopping for shoes for the fall season. Here are some of the top styles for kids and adults this fall.

Crocs

Just when you thought you could escape them, Crocs are everywhere once more. Personally, I have never owned a pair, but my children all have them and love them for their comfort. It's a favorite for travel days, and they're great for wearing at home. Add a little personality to them with Jibitz for special occasions like holidays, game days, spirit week, etc. Don't forget the socks! If your kids love Crocs, you should add Croc socks for back to school! Crocs with socks are totally a thing, if you didn't know.

Star Studded Sneakers

While Golden Goose made their signature star-appliqued sneakers a global trend, there are tons of footwear brands with similar designs. Brands like Vintage Havana, and others are all adding stars to their sneaks for that too cool for school look. Low rise sneakers (in white or cream) with stars are a must-have this back to school season. I found some adorable similar style sneakers for toddlers at Kidpik and just had to buy them for my youngest! If you have $300.00+ to drop on GG's, more power to you. This is probably better for adults and older teens who are more likely to take care of such an expensive shoe. If you have younger kids who want the look (and you don't want the price tag), go for a similar style with another brand.

Nike

Nike makes the list once again, because every kid my son's age wears them... everywhere. Nikes, particularly Nike Jordan's have become both a style and status symbol. While my own son owns 3-4 pairs of J's, we still look to Nike as an everyday shoe favorite for all of our kids. Their sneakers fit well and hold up well for gym class, recess, field trips, and whatever else the kids might endure during the school year. For adults, Nike Dunk Lows are a great choice. They come in so many different colors, so you can easily coordinate them with your fits. They also have a bit of a lower price point, typically ringing in around $125.00/pair. Every now and then you can find these on sale, so keep an eye out if you're looking for a sneaker your kids will approve of.

Other Sneakers Worth Mentioning

Brands like HOKA, ON, and even ALTRA are right up there with Nike. If your kids are older, or you're looking for on trend sneakers for yourself (particularly if you're a runner, or are pretty active), these are the shoes for you!

Boots

I don't know too many gals who don't absolutely love boot season. Once the weather turns a bit cooler, boots are it! Styles like Chelsea Boots will prevail once again this season, but don't tuck those riding boots away. Ankle boots will still look great with dresses, and if you dare- wedge boots have also made a bit of a comeback. Boots will be in for young girls this season, and of course, for seasoned ladies, as well.

Flats

Where would I be without my flats? While round toe ballet flat popularity has sort of stalled over the past couple of years, flats are always a staple in any girl's closet. The pointed-toe flat has come back around (a favorite style of mine from the early 00's), and are more comfortable than ever before, thanks to fashion brands like Rothys, If you want a similar style without breaking the bank (Rothy's can cost upwards of $200.00/pair), check out Target (A New Day- for $19.99), and even Amazon (Frank Mully- for $39.99). The knit ballet flat is super comfortable and you will want several colors. Another super popular flat for fall is the one made popular by Chanel, and a favorite of Princess Kate. That's right, the beige colored flat with black toe is a staple for fall. The designer ballet flat will cost you around $1200.00/pair. If you're on a budget, check out these cute Cap Toe Flats look-a-likes from Walmart of all places, for just $19.99.

Which of these shoes are you loving most for Fall 2024?
