Marriage can be one of the hardest interpersonal relationships one can have. You are two people that are trying build together while trying to maintain your core values and who you are as individuals.  The best advice I ever received was to love myself first. My spouse is my partner not my opponent. 

In our early years, we struggled with our different personalities. We argued, we didn't see eye to eye. We both were doing everything just to get by. It took a movie, based on a book to get through to us. 14 years later, this book means everything to me.  

It's one of the best books I've read. It put into perspective what our marriage should be. We have never been stronger.
