Off to Camp: One Week Without My Oldest

I can't believe that my oldest is going to be a camper at Campfirmation next week. Lots of kids go to camp at much younger ages than B is now, but this will be his first camp experience without the rest of his family in tow.

Campfirmation is a special week of camp at Lutheridge, a Lutheran camp and conference center in Arden, NC. My husband and both attended as campers when we were B's age, and now here we are- full circle, our son attending camp with his fellow soon-to-be confirmands. I expected hesitancy from B, as he's not really the 'camp' type, but I think he's really been looking forward to spending a week with his friends from church, and with our amazing youth pastor, who he really looks up to.

We've nearly got everything packed, and it's a good thing, because the bus to camp leaves tomorrow, right after church.

I'll miss B for the week that he's gone. Poor S has been sulking that she'll be so lost without her brother, but I think she'll be just fine. B's absence will give S the opportunity to step into the 'oldest sibling role' and really tuck into time with her baby sister. We'll be busy packing for our upcoming trip to the beach, so we'll have plenty to do all week long. I know it'll go by quickly, and we'll soon be together again.

If you get a chance, say a quick prayer for my boy, and for my momma heart. I never like being separated from any of my children, and it's only natural for me to worry about him while he's gone.

What fun things do you have planned for this weekend?
