Take Your Child To The Library Day

I remember the first time I took my children to the library like it was yesterday.  Reading has always been important to me. I feel one learns something new every day and it is because we read about it.  I wanted my children to have a love of reading just like me, but it didn't work out that way in the beginning.  Here's our story.

I read stories to E when he was in the womb. I believed this would help him love reading. He didn't.  It wasn't until  he was school age and we picked up the summer reading lists that he became interested.  We would take turns reading aloud.  When his sister came for her weekend visits, she would read with us.  It was then that E began to enjoy reading.  We went to the library, got library cards, and we each picked out books to read together.

It hasn't stopped now that they are grown. Both kids love to read, make book recommendations to me, and have kept books for their children to read to them. How are you spending the day? No plans? Why don't you go to the library? Pick a book with your child or children and read with them just like when they were small.
