Weird Collections

Throughout my life, I've never been a huge collector of things. I had a phase for a while where I collected anchors, and even got an anchor tattoo, but as they became more popular I began to lose interest in them. I've gone years without really collecting things, but as of late I've found a love for vintage shopping and have started to collect Mid-Century-Modern furniture and decor, and I've also found a love for ceramic planters. You heard me right, ceramic planters, and the uglier the planter the better!

I really feel like my collection started because I originally was getting a few small succulents for my office at a vintage store, and they came in cute recycled mugs and ceramic planters. I honestly didn't know that these vintage ceramic planters existed because I've never really been much of a plant person. I don't have a green thumb, and gardening is not my thing, but I decided to jump on the succulent trend and give it a go. Little succulent update, I haven't killed them yet!

Anywho, since I've been collecting MCM furniture, I've been going to a lot of vintage and antique stores throughout Oklahoma, several of which are right off Route 66!  While perusing the stores, I kept seeing different ceramic pots and planters and started to fall in love with all of them, I never realized how many different styles there are. Like I said before, if it's ugly or tacky, I'm gonna take it home with me, and here in lies the problem because I'm starting to want more and more and my curiosity has bloomed into a full-blown collection! So I figured I'd share my small collection with you!

This cat was one of my first plater purchases and it really started me wanting to collect Persian cat statues and figurines. Now, where am I going to put all of them, I have no idea, but I love them and that's all that matters! Also, shout out to Cozy Quilts by Leslie, for making the beautiful quilted runner!

I was so excited when I found this puppy in a store yesterday! It is the perfect compliment to the cat planter, and they will peacefully cohabitate in my front room!

I am in LOVE with this puppy, and at first, I was going to use him as a small planter, but I think I'm going to take him to work with me and use him as a business card holder. The store I bought him from had a larger version as well, and I may have to go back and get it for the house!

This little guy was only $3.00, and I could not leave him behind! I'll probably put a small air plant in him and look for another small bird planter to be his friend!

Now, this guy is one of my favorite ones in my small collection. He is so weird, and ugly, and honestly, that's why I love him. I want to do more research on him and see if there are others out there like him, but all I know is he was made in Japan!

I do have about 3 others in my collection, One is an ugly dog, and the other two are technically creamers, but I love them just the same! Let me know which one is your favorite and what you like to collect.
