Five Easy Ways New Moms Can Stay Healthy

“A happy and healthy mother can keep the child happy and healthy.”

Becoming a mother is one of the most beautiful and rewarding phases of life. But as much as it is rewarding, it can become exhausting too. You will have to take care of your newborn and meet all their needs while taking care of yourself.

Most mothers find it challenging to manage their time as the newborn is constantly in need of care. This can affect the health of new mothers.

To help you stay healthy and well to embrace motherhood, here are a few simple tips that you can consider:

Write Out a Plan

New motherhood can be hard on the memory. When you become the main source to offer care and love to the newborn, there are many things that can be easily forgotten. These things can be essential for your overall health.

To cope with this, you can create a to-do list for yourself or write a plan for the day. You set goals for daily exercise, maintaining hygiene, nap time, healthy meal preparation, and more. This plan will keep you focused and help you to maintain good health.

You can prevent your newborn from getting anxious and yourself from getting overwhelmed.

Plan Healthy Feeding For Yourself

When you are the source to provide all the nutrients to your newborn, you need to ensure that you are getting all the nutrients. A new mother should have a balanced diet to get enough protein, calcium, and iron.

It is one of the essential nutrients for postpartum and breastfeeding. The health specialist recommends new mothers add an extra 500 calories on top of their regular diet or calories chart. Make regular visits to the gynecologist and learn about maternal healthcare and stress management in the early stage of mom-hood.

Make the Most of Nap Time

Before things start to become chaotic and stressful as you become sleep deprived or find no time to perform any task –pay attention to your child's routine. You need to realize the sleep time of your newborn to set your schedule accordingly.

When the newborn falls asleep, you can take a steamy shower, work out, prepare meals for yourself, and even sleep as well.

If you feel the need to take a nap, get your pillow for some well-deserved sleep.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

It is crucial for new mothers to drink plenty of water to keep themselves hydrated. It will help in good breast milk production. The healthy amount of water which consists of 8-10 glasses of water or other fluids, will keep you hydrated from the inside.

Hydration will also help your brain to function better so you manage multiple tasks at one time and keep your mental health in good shape.

Engage In Physical Exercise

After delivering the baby, various physical changes happen, and they persist for four to six weeks. It is not a long time, but when in the situation, it is better for new moms to resume their pre-pregnancy exercise gradually.

It is healthy to aim for 1 to 2 kg weight loss per month to keep your body in good functioning.
