Backyard Oasis

I'm honestly not sure when it happened, but at some point in my thirties, I turned into a crazy bird lady. I don't know if it's a right of passage before you officially become middle-aged, or if it's just the next logical step in adulthood, but I love watching the birds. Over the weekend, while my hubby graciously hung my sunscreens for the porch that I found at Costco, (don't even get me started on Costco,) I found myself watching the birds at my bird feeder instead of helping him.

I find it so relaxing to sit on my back porch, basking in the sunset and watching the birds or other animals at the bird feeders. When I'm out and about shopping, I find myself perusing the isles looking at different types of bird feeders, houses, and bird seed. Shoot, I don't have to be in a brick-and-mortar to look at them, I find myself adding them to my Amazon list, or checking Etsy for handmade ones. I'm even waiting on my Mom to mail me the one she bought for me at Christmas, lol.

See, I'm at the point in my life where I really enjoy the quietness and solitude of my backyard. The only problem is, I live directly behind the sports fields of the local high school, and while there is a greenbelt that separates us, it can be loud and we do struggle with privacy at times. That's why we are installing sunscreens on our back porch for privacy, adding some potted plants to help keep the bugs away, lots of solar lights, and of course bird feeders.

It's a work in progress, as is the rest of my home, but it's my little oasis, and I can't wait to sit out there this Spring and enjoy the birds! And before I know it, it'll be time to open the pool!
