Something Small Can Have A Huge Impact

Whenever I hear someone talk about random acts of kindness, my mind always goes to the same place, pulling up to the coffee shop window and being told that the car in front of you paid for your drink! Then the barista will ask, do you want to pay it forward and pay for the car behind you, and so the cycle continues. But what if I told you that random acts of kindness don't have to cost a thing?
I work in a healthcare facility, and it's a tough place to work right now. Like most places, some days are much harder than others, and some days, you just don't want to go to work. I've been at my current facility for close to three years, and I've been able to meet some of the most amazing people there. Today, someone that was visiting a patient, stopped at the grand piano on the way out. While there, they hesitated for a few moments before sitting down to quietly play a song. After playing, they began to get up but noticed that a gentleman had come over to listen to them play. They carried on a small conversation for a few minutes, and then the piano started up again.

Our piano player, played and sang songs, took requests, and conversed with the crowd that had gathered around. After about an hour or so, the singing and playing had come to an end. A quietness fell over the facility and people went back to their daily routines, and patients went back to their therapies. I know the person playing the piano enjoyed getting to sing and play, but honestly, they brought so much unexpected joy to our patients, that we can't thank them enough. Our patients have been talking about it for days now, and honestly, it was such a fun experience and a break from the daily grind.

Small things like this, are what help to restore my faith in humanity!
