Favorite Fruits of the Summer

This week, I have been finding myself coming from home from work and staring into the fridge figuring out what meal takes the least effort to create on that evening. Even though I often only have to feed my own stomach, I often keep a decently stocked freezer and pantry.. but sometimes.. sometimes the fridge is lacking. For some reason, right now, I have a lot of fruit in my fridge but not much else!

Here is my top 5 favorite fruits. For us in NC, technically strawberries aren't summer (as as they pop up in spring), but my Maryland roots will ever have me associating strawberry patches with mid-June! I definitely miss Aunt Lula's farm during strawberry season!

1. Strawberries.

2. Blueberries

3. Raspberries.

4. Cantaloupes

5. Watermelon

Mostly, just like our kiddos, I eat the fruits straight up. Typically, without sugar, without whipped cream, or anything to make them fancy. Yet, there are so many ways to use fruit!

Ideas might include breakfast bars, breakfast casseroles, pancakes/waffle toppings, muffins, trifles, part of charcuterie/fondue night, homemade jams, smoothies (if that's your thing), and even in salads!

I know lots of folks like peaches, and while I'll eat a few in seasaon, honestly, they just aren't my favorite.

Currently, I have 4 of the 5 listed fruits in my fridge. Can you guess which ones? Give a shout in the comments! Also, let us know what fruits you love and are currently in your fridge? Or maybe ones that never make it indoors because they are devoured between the grocery store and your home?
