Turn Frozen Meatballs Into The Best Meatball Sub Ever

When you're only using a few ingredients, make sure you use the best.

These may or may not be your favorite meatballs, but every time I visit Target, I grab at least one bag to keep on hand. They may be a little boring on their own, but simmer for six hours in Rao's marinara sauce and you've got something special on your hands.

I mean...

The cast of characters for these scrumptious little subbies include:

Hawaiian mini sub rolls
Frozen turkey meatballs
Rao's marinara sauce
Provolone cheese
Fresh mozzarella cheese
Shaved parmesan cheese
Garlic salt

I cooked the meatballs IN the sauce on low for six hours in my crock pot and they became tender and rich in flavor. I then assembled the subs and it's just that easy. Treat the sub roll like it's garlic bread. I added butter and garlic salt and did a quick two minute toast before adding the toppings. It's not necessary but adds depth to the flavor.

Add your saucy meatballs, fresh mozzarella slices and parmesan and bake at 350 for ten minutes or until everything is melty and delicious. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and you're ready to eat!

My hubby and two sons devoured these subs and I even had a couple leftover. I decided to wrap them up and freeze them. You can wrap them in tin foil and bake in the oven from the frozen state. They will not be AS good as the day of, but it can work in a pinch.

We love making meatball subs in this way. Some people enjoy various toppings on their meatball subs, but we like to keep it simple.

Give it a try! Let me know what you think.

Blessings,
