Must-Have Board Books for Baby's First Christmas from Penguin Random House #MBPHGG21

What's sweeter than a baby's first Christmas? Not much! I have enjoyed all three of my children's first Christmases- what a joy! I have loved watching my babies delight in the sights and sounds of the holiday season for eleven years, and this year is no exception as Baby C experiences her very first Christmas.

While Christmas gift-giving is one of the things I love about the season, this year has been a tad bit stressful when it has come to shopping. I'm doing my best to find meaningful gifts, and give items that are more need-based than just plain wants. What do babies need at Christmastime, though? Besides fresh diapers, warm milk, safe and snuggly arms, and lots of love, they don't need a whole lot, which is why I love to give books as baby gifts. Books are gifts that grow with a baby and can be enjoyed over and over again by the whole family.

Penguin Young Readers is always a go-to for books for my kids, who now range in ages from 3 months to 11 years. They have such a wonderful selection of books for various ages, and always have new books coming out from our favorite authors!

This Christmas, there are a handful of board books that stood out to me as I searched for books for Baby C, including Anna Dewdney's New York Times bestselling Llama Llama series continues with new concept board books, LLAMA LLAMA COLORS and LLAMA LLAMA NUMBERS. The LLAMA LLAMA series is a favorite in our house, and while S has a bunch of her own LLAMA LLAMA books, it was the perfect choice for Baby C, as she starts a book collection of her own! The pair of books makes a fabulous holiday gift for little ones.

Other holiday picks include THE ANIMALS’ SANTA by Jan Brett, or a more modern, rhyming Christmas story, ELFIE SELFIE by Jo Parker, illustrated by Debbie Palen, where young readers see their own reflection in the embedded mirror as they take a "selfie" with Elfie! And embrace the change of season with Eric Carle’s brilliantly illustrated THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR’S FIRST WINTER,

These three books are so colorful and fun! All three tell unique stories in holiday settings, which are perfect for spreading holiday cheer in and around your own home or on the go. I can't wait to watch Baby C as she discovers a world of colorful adventure in these books- and more than that, I can't wait for the memories I know will be made when her big bro and sis read these books to their baby sister.
