Make Halloween Cookies Easy with One Smart Cookie #review #MBPHalloween21 #MBPHGG21

Thanks One Smart Cookie for sending over these great cutters in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Y'all, I love Halloween. I have no earthly reason why I like this holiday so much. I'm not really into the blood, guts, and gore portion. Or the terror portion. So yea, no clue why I love it. I'm probably more into the Disney's Happy Halloween version. Give me all the pumpkins, trick-or-treating, Hocus Pocus parts of Halloween and keep the Exorcist Freddy Krueger parts to yourself.

Unfortunately, where I live, I don't get many trick or treaters, so I often look for other ways to celebrate! This year, my church is hosting a trunk or treat. I've been invited to a friends house for actual Halloween, cause her neighborhood goes all out, so I'm sure I'll have loads of fun.

And.. the cookies. I've always wanted to learn how to decorate like the cute cookies like the professionals. But, I resonate with the owner of One Smart Cookie. By the time the dough is made, the icings are made, and the cookies are ready to decorate, I've lost my own interest (and energy).. let alone entertaining any kids that I might be trying to work with.

One Smart Cookie aims to cut down on the time it takes to make cookies by using a simple cookie cutter instead of the dough rolling, gazillion shapes, and transfers it takes to make the perfect edible cookie.

These cookie cutters are big sheets that go on top of parchment or a baking sheet. Testing the first round out, I realized I didn't have any parchment paper, so I had to spray my pan before setting the cookie cutter on top.

It took me a second to realize which end goes up. The cutters come in packaging that has instructions, but it wasn't totally specific about which end goes up and down. The raised edge needs to face upwards, instead of down, as the raised edge is the edge that will "cut" the dough when being rolled.

So, here we go:

1) Make your dough. The cookie cutter instructions do have an easy peasy dough recipe that requires no chilling. I first tried making the dough that I normally make every year. Y'all,  in order for these cookie cutters to work, use the provided recipe or one that is room temp. Chilled Dough will crumble and will take longer.. the dough that One Smart Cookie uses is MADE for these cutters!

2) Grab your cookie sheet. Spray it/ flour it.. however you grease or line with parchment paper. Note- my cookie sheets are too short in width for the entire cutter, so I had to improvise by not using all of the cutter slots!

3) Stuff dough into the cutter shapes you want to use. The best part about this is.. if you don't want a particular shape, you don't have to use it!

4) Grab a piece of wax paper, parchment, or even clingwrap and place on top. Using a roller, thin out the dough so that all spaces in the cutter shapes are filled. As the dough is rolled, it becomes more pliable and fills in the sides. If extra dough is needed, just grab some of the excess, stuff it in, and roll again.

5) Lift up the cutter, slowly pushing the shapes out through the bottom, and they will fall onto your parchment or cookie sheet.

6) Bake your cookies, cool, and then decorate!

They are easy to use once you get the hang of it!

The real deal is that these cookie cutters are super time savers once you get used to them. I've been using all the regular cookie cutters for a long time, so it felt weird to not have to chill dough, to prep, to do all the work that comes with cutting cookies. You know, rolling out the dough, cutting shapes, rolling again, etc. It takes a long time!

I'll be honest- my first batch didn't exactly go as planned. Part of that was figuring out which side of the cutter needs to be facing upwards, part of that was just getting used to the process.

Once I figured it out, I fell in love with these cookie cutters. One Smart Cookie has shapes for all seasons- so if you are a cookie lover and want your kids to learn, this is a perfect way to help teach them! They can easily stuff dough in, help you roll, and voila.. you are done until it's time to decorate!

The best part, for me, was- not having to transfer cookies to a sheet with a spatula and hoping that they wouldn't break! I've always hated that! Instead, these shapes fall directly onto the sheet they will be baked on, so little to no movement at all!

Cleaning these cutters are super easy too. It didn't take long to rinse- and there was definitely less mess than with individual cutters to clean and store! These cutters are slightly wider/ longer than normal, so storing them may be difficult if you have tight spaces, but I'm sure you will find a place.

If you want to up your cookie game this Halloween and/ or Holiday season, check out One Smart Cookie! Their cutters will be a game changer for sure! Our lives are stressful and busy enough.. having a super cookie cutter like this one will make things so much easier!
