After a very wet winter, there's a chore I have put off many times. Any guesses? Mopping my floors! I have a large tiled area in my kitchen and dining room, and have hardwood and tile throughout the rest of my home. Don't get me wrong- I love the way it looks, but usually hate having to mop the entire house. I do have a robotic vacuum cleaner, which takes care of a lot of the day to day dirt, but it doesn't mop. With two kids, a handy husband, and a baby on the way, messes are a given in our house, and the floors are never spared.
Ever since I became a mom (ten years ago), I have been pretty adamant about keeping the floors clean. My kids play on them, and yes- they've dropped food and then picked it up and eaten it. Insert palm to the forehead... I know. While I've been using a spray mop system for about eight years, I noticed recently that it just didn't seem to be doing that great of a job at cleaning floors in our new house. Aside from scrubbing the floors on hands and knees, I've done all I can to get those floors clean.
What I didn't realize was that I really needed a new mop, and not just any mop would do. For years, I've been cleaning with microfiber, so why wouldn't I clean my floors the same way?

While the mop does come in pieces, it's really easy to put together. I did this without having to ask my husband for help. The mop pieces simply slide in, and click together. To mop the floors, simply attach one of the blue microfiber mop pads. I do use a specific cleaner for my floors, which I put into a spray bottle and spritz as I go along mopping. You can clean with water and whatever mild soap or floor cleaner you choose to use in your home.
My floors were pretty grimey after rain, having dirt tracked inside, an accidental apple juice spill, and coffee pot drips. Yes- these are typical every day occurrences in our home. To clean my floors, I used my usual cleaning solution, and glided the mop over the floors. I immediately started noticing how easy it was to clean the floors. I didn't have to press down or scrub with the mop to remove visible goo off of the floor, or stuck on dirt. Mopping the floors was as easy as wiping spilled water off the counter with a paper towel.
After I mopped the kitchen and dining room, I was so impressed by the way things were going, I went ahead and finished mopping the entire downstairs. My hardwood floors looked so much cleaner after mopping with this new mop than they did after I mopped them just one week earlier with my previous mop. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how much visible dirt there was left on the mopping pad after I was finished mopping, I was truly astonished. It made me feel as though my floors really weren't getting clean before.
After mopping, I went straight on to dusting. Just a simple swipe with one of these handy cloths had every surface of my home clean as a whistle within minutes. Again, I was incredibly impressed. I saw the dust collect on the cloth, and didn't see any dust left behind on my furniture or baseboards.
To clean the cloths and pads, just follow the simple instructions which come with the mopping set. They can be tossed into the washing machine and dried, and then they are ready to be used again.
