Taking Charge of my Health

Over the course of the last year or so, I've been becoming increasingly more tired throughout the day. So much so, that I have been falling asleep almost as soon as I sit down to take a break from doing something. Or, as soon as I wake up and shower in the morning, I want to immediately go back to bed. It's been a huge struggle and I'm honestly becoming more concerned over it. I've never been one to nap during the day, and now that seems to be all that I want to do.

Not only have I been feeling exhausted, I've been dealing with increased thirst, headaches and dry itchy skin. There have been more things going on, but I've been mainly concerned with the amount of sleep that I seem to be needing. Now,  a year or so ago, at the recommendation of my reproductive endocrinologists, I did diabetic genetic testing. This test doesn't diagnose diabetes, but rather, it tells you based on your genetics, the probability of you developing it over the course of your life. Mine came back at 50%, so with that information, these symptoms, and the fact that I have PCOS, I'm very concerned that I have diabetes.

So, I've decided that it is time to do something about it and go see my PCP.  I called and made an appointment, which isn't scheduled until 02/24/21, but I'm okay with that. This gives me enough time to make sure that I write down any and all questions that I have, and to be tested for Covid at work before heading to the doctor where other people might be. I'm nervous, but I'm hoping that this will help me find some answers to what is going on inside my body because I definitely don't feel l like myself. Especially since I am fighting off the sleep as I write this, this morning.

I plan to keep you all updated and take you along this journey with me. I hope that you all stay safe and healthy this year, but if you are struggling with your health, please make sure that you talk to someone about what's going on. Your health is important!
