Re-Discovering My Love of Reading

Life for most of us in 2020 was anything but normal, and while most people were hunkered down quarantined, I found myself starting a new job. My job is in healthcare, and while I originally started out just working the weekends, it quickly grew into me working six days a week and 50+ hours a week, nights, days, and weekends. Work began to consume my life, and I do really enjoy what I do, but I was finding it hard to make time for the things that I enjoy. One of those things is reading, which I haven't read a new book in almost a year. However, this year I am going to change that.

For Christmas, I was given four books that I had on my Amazon list, and I eagerly dove into the first one called Buttons in My Soup by Moshe Ziv. This book is a Holocaust Survivors' story, and boy is it a great book so far. Yes, I said so far, because I still have not finished reading it, but I can't wait to! One of my books is on backorder, and I have yet to receive it, but that's fine, it'll give me time to read the others first. The other books are I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara, and Remembering Ravensbruck, Holocaust to Healing by Natalie B Hess.

Books about the Holocaust are always at the top of my reading list because I want to learn more about the history of those horrific years. I find that the stories of the survivors are so inspiring and emotional, that I find myself so encapsulated by their lives. I am also obsessed with True Crime, and that makes for some great books. I usually listen to True Crime podcasts, but I decided that I'd like to read more about certain cases from people that have studied them or lived through them.

I'm really looking forward to reading these books over the next few weeks, and I can't wait to see what other books come my way this year. If you have any suggestions that I should check out, let me know in the comments. I'm always interested in what other people are reading, or what others suggest for me to read!
