A few years ago my hubby and I started a new tradition at Christmas where we buy a new ornament for that year. While I know that a lot of families already do this, but we didn't. In years past, we typically spent Christmas away from our home, and so I never saw a need or reason to put up a tree if we weren't going to be home. However, a few years ago, we decided that we wanted to start collecting one or two new ornaments each year. I originally wanted us to pick one out for the other person, but that never really worked with our schedules. So, we either picked them out together, or I would go out and pick one for the family. 

This year, my husband asked if we could have a Harry Potter themed tree. I wasn't opposed to the idea, but I wasn't sure that I wanted the entire tree to be Harry Potter. So, instead, we got a couple HP blind bags and opened them together revealing Hermoine and Harry! We also had to add an owl on top to represent Hedwig! While our tree looks pretty bare at the moment, I do plan on making some ornaments to hang on the tree and throughout the house, so be on the lookout in the next week or so for a DIY tutorial! 

Besides our new Harry Potter ornaments, over the years we've collected or been given some really great ornaments. Each of our dogs has their own ornament, however, I accidentally broke Luna's ornament, so if you know where I can get a cute pitbull ornament, let me know in the comments! We have one from our first Christmas together, and different ones that we feel represent who we are, or something fun from that year. I love this tradition that we've created together and when we have children, I can't wait to explain what each one means and keep the tradition going with them!
