Is It 2021 Yet?

Ok y'all, I have about had it with 2020, and I think many of you feel the same way. See, my 2020 didn't exactly start out like everyone else's, though. My 2020 started out with me breaking my foot while on vacation with my family in Myrtle Beach, SC.

We were staying in a cottage at a resort and the cottage was set atop of pylons, as are the majority of beach houses. Under the house is the parking area, and outside the front door are an enormous set of wooden stairs. This is the only way to get into the cottage. We were headed out to Barefoot Landing and I had left my wedding rings in the cottage, so I went back upstairs to get them. I had made it all the way to the bottom of the stairs and turned to head under the house and tripped/stepped just right on a broken piece of the garage area, causing my foot to come to an abrupt halt and roll completely under me as I fell to the ground.

I don't remember a whole lot, just that I had grunted in pain, my Mom was hysterical, and I asked Cory to take my shoe off. Everything looked fine, and after a few minutes I was helped up and I tried to walk to the car. That was not an easy task but I kept telling myself I was fine. As I got settled in the car, my Mom kept saying I should go and get it checked out, I really didn't want to, but at that point my foot was throbbing and so I relented.

We wound up at and ER where a few x-rays later, I was told I had a Jones Fracture of the 5th Metatarsal and a severely sprained ankle, oh boy! This literally happened on our second full day of vacation, we were going to be there for 7 days. I was put in a hard splint and had to go see an orthopedic surgeon before we went back to Oklahoma. It was miserable, but I dealt with it because I wanted to have a good time, and not be a burden on anyone else. I fussed about things, had a hard time figuring out how to shower, and had to go up and down the stairs on my hands, knees, and butt, yet we still managed to have fun!

The kids enjoyed pushing me around in the wheelchair and I had fun learning how to do things with one leg! Now, while we were on vacation, Cory and I both got extremely sick, and when we got back from our trip, we both wound up getting the stomach flu. That was so hard with a broken foot, 2 dogs and trying to make it to the potty in time. Honestly Hollywood could make a movie out of how pathetic and silly we looked. We got over our sickness and March 11th I was given the all clear for my foot, but that was right when Covid-19 was taking hold in the US.

So here we are today, I've pretty much been in quarantine since the beginning of January and I am hoping that this ends soon so that life can go back to some semblance of normal for everyone. I pray for those of you that have suffered through all of this, and those that have lost loved ones.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
