Thank you to Motorola for the samples. All thoughts are my own.
When my sister moved out West a decade ago, I couldn't help but worry about potentially dangerous weather situations. Our mom grew up in Missouri and told us all sorts of scary weather stories when we were growing up. Most of them involved tornadoes and storm cellars, painting a dramatic picture of what life is like for many people who live in Tornado Alley. My sis and bro-in-law are quite used to the tornadoes, but being used to them doesn't make them any less scary for them- or for us, her family, half a country away.
Like many in their area of the country, Britt and Cory have an emergency bag that they keep packed and ready to go at all times. They've faced multiple area tornadoes and bad flooding while they've loved in Oklahoma, and are no strangers to outages, terrible wind and rain, and even having to evacuate their home to seek shelter.
While we all have cell phones, they can't really be relied on during storms. Cory works almost an hour away from home, and during the day, he is separated from my sister, his wife. If phones go down and there is a weather emergency, how are they supposed to be able to communicate?
